WASHINGTON (AP) — Democratic leaders say a proposal from the White House is “incomplete and insufficient” as they are demanding new restrictions on President Donald Trump’s immigration crackdown and threatening a shutdown of the Homeland Security Department.
Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer and House Democratic leader Hakeem Jeffries said in a statement late Monday that a White House counterproposal to the list of demands they transmitted over the weekend “included neither details nor legislative text” and does not address “the concerns Americans have about ICE’s lawless conduct.” The White House proposal was not released publicly.
Schumer and Jeffries have said they want immigration officers to remove their masks, to show identification and to better coordinate with local authorities. They have also demanded a stricter use-of-force policy for the federal officers, legal safeguards at detention centers and a prohibition on tracking protesters with body-worn cameras.

Republicans are cowards. If somehow they managed to get rid of the filibuster they would never find 50 votes to get anything done and then the Democrats would get elected and pass 2 more states, 10 more justices, a dozen second amendment killing bills and then impeach and remove Trump. The best thing you can hope for is endless gridlock. Trump shouldn’t feel like a government shutdown is his failing. He needs to let it stay closed until November or until they pass a balanced budget

The GOP controls Congress and the presidency. I really hope they have the b___ls to shut the Democrats down. The Democrats always seem to be able to leverage whatever situation they are in into getting concessions. The GOP always seems to be able to leverage whatever situation they are in into defeat.

One key to minimizing “shutdowns” is to not pay government employees for the time the government is shut down. Historically, government “shutdowns are Vacays for government employees. So what do they care? Most look forward to “shutdowns”.
Since when do the democrats think they have any power to make nonnegotiable demands of the White House? These idiots are delusional at best. It’s time for Thune to put on his big boy panties and force the criminal democrat party into a real talking filibuster then shut them down and pass all of Trump’s agenda into actual laws.

The deMS-13s want to shut down air travel and the Coast Guard to protect their illegal alien provided congressional seats and electoral votes. ICE is already funded and will continue to operate.
