~The FReeper Canteen Presents~ Road Trip: Whiteman Air Force Base, Missouri
The 509th Bomb Wing is part of Air Force Global Strike Command and is the host wing at Whiteman Air Force Base, Mo. The Bomb Wing and its fleet of B-2 Spirit bombers serve as part of the Air Force's conventional and strategic combat force. The Bomb Wing can project U.S airpower anywhere around the world from home station and employ a wide range of precision-guided munitions.

Thunderbolt IIs have Night Vision Imaging Systems, or NVIS, goggle compatible single-seat cockpits forward of their wings and a large bubble canopy which provides pilots all-around vision. The pilots are protected by titanium armor that also protects parts of the flight-control system. The redundant primary structural sections allow the aircraft to enjoy better survivability during close air support than did previous aircraft. The aircraft can survive direct hits from armor-piercing and high explosive projectiles up to 23mm. Their self-sealing fuel cells are protected by internal and external foam. Manual systems back up their redundant hydraulic flight-control systems. This permits pilots to fly and land when hydraulic power is lost.
The B-2 provides the penetrating flexibility and effectiveness inherent in manned bombers. Its low-observable, or "stealth," characteristics give it the unique ability to penetrate an enemy's most sophisticated defenses and threaten its most valued, and heavily defended, targets. Its capability to penetrate air defenses and threaten effective retaliation provides a strong, effective deterrent and combat force well into the 21st century.
The revolutionary blending of low-observable technologies with high aerodynamic efficiency and large payload gives the B-2 important advantages over existing bombers. Its low-observability provides it greater freedom of action at high altitudes, thus increasing its range and a better field of view for the aircraft's sensors. Its unrefueled range is approximately 6,000 nautical miles.

Lauren... I live just west of KCMO and I occasionally get A-10s and Chinook helicopters flying over my house, Noisy!
They and the B2 bombers also do a lot of flybys for Chiefs and Royals games. (At least when they are in the playoffs...)
(I do not think you will find them doing fly-Unders on the St Louis arch. Very Bad JuJu! You do not want to end up piloting ferry flights of decommissioned planes to their scrapping destination somewhere in the desert. )

Howdy, lauren. *HUGZ*
Nose to the grindstone time again. Better than being bored though! LOL
I hope you aren’t too far from being finished for the day so you can kick the shoes off and relax.

Howdy, PRO.
Are you lucky enough to get a little break from Old Man Winter’s grasp this week? T’would be nice since it makes it easier to walk out the door to take care of errands.
We finally get to break out this week. I’ve been getting cabin fever. LOL

Hey there, radu!
That’s great! You must have enjoyed it so much after the freezing temps y’all have had. Did you run errands?
It was warm and cloudy here. My favorite. The kitties seemed happy. Me? I stayed in...with the door open. The house is much fresher tonight.

Hiya radu, we had a real nice un-winter-like sunny day today, the winter coat I was wearing was too hot, hopefully we’ll get more sunny days soon.

I wish. I did nothing today other than walk to the mailbox. LOL I forgot to set the alarm when I went to bed and didn’t wake up until after 2:30. Just ruined the day.
The alarm is set now for tomorrow. LOL
I would have cracked opened a couple of windows but it appears the guy who owns the field across the road has just bought this year’s fertilizer. I know where he piles it up and the wind was blowing from that direction. POO STINK!! Dang it!!!

Very good! Felt good, didn’t it? Hope the break lasts a few days like ours will.
I’m beyond ready to hang up my heavy jacket for the last time for several months!
Enjoy it as much as you can while it’s there.

Bummer your ‘net will be down for a while. Maybe they’ll be quicker than you expect.
Looks like it’s still nice and warm over there, using Gizmo’s tongue as a gauge. :-)

Yeeeeeeahbuddy!!! I was NOT amused when I went outside. My hope is the wind will blow from a different direction tomorrow so I can open the windows for a little while. And not gag while I load trash into the car to haul off.
At least it’ll be a while before he spreads it. He’ll have to harvest the wheat first.
I’ve been tired all day too. Oversleeping wrecks the day.
