A post on about a voter in Nebraska who said she received a ballot application in a pink envelope, while her husband received his in a blue one, has sparked backlash on social media.
The Threads post, shared by @ellen_mint_author, has garnered over 330,000 views since it was published on February 6. The post features an image of two envelopes, one pink and one blue, that each bear a label saying an early vote ballot application for the statewide primary election on May 12, 2026 is enclosed.
The caption of the post says: “What the ****, Nebraska? Why is my ballot application pink and my husband’s blue? What ******* reason can there be other than an eventual plan to deny the pink ones?”
The user’s observation comes as Nebraska election officials mailed tens of thousands of early voting applications to residents.
A local news report from KOLN/1011 NOW said the Lancaster County Election Commission announced last Thursday that it had sent early vote application forms to 60,000 voters on the Permanent Early Vote Request list.
The report noted that partisan voters—Republicans, Democrats, Libertarians, and Legal Marijuana NOW—were to receive pink applications, while nonpartisan voters receive blue ones. Nonpartisan voters are also able to request a nonpartisan‑partisan ballot. The Nebraska Secretary of State government website currently displays the early voting application in white. …

Are non-partisan register voters allowed to vote in partisan primaries?
I suppose I’m missing something, but the federal post office is FEDERAL. Disallow its use for elections, President Trump!

Interesting idea, but it would require legislation. It may even require a Constitutional Amendment, since the Post Office is one of the few institutions created by the Constitution instead of legislation.
How do you propose military personnel vote?
The envelopes in this post were covers for voter ballot applications, so it wouldn’t be unusual to have those envelopes color coded by party affiliation. It’s not secret information.
Is there any verification of this? It sounds like a great click collecting scam.
All this drama based on two envelopes?
I should have read the article. It explains the reasons for the colors. Logical.
For what it is worth, I would allow the Post Office to only perform a certain small percentage of the voting. Simply say that it is not designed to provide more than that.
You are correct that the Post Office is created by the US Constitution. This should give the Federal Government more, and not less, control over its use.
States are required to implement Constitutionally Limited Republican (Electorally Representative) forms of government. This does NOT require the Federal Government to perform elections for them.
Just how much do you reckon unionized, leftist, democrat postal workers contribute to election fraud by destroying i or delaying mail-in ballots from people or areas they even suspect of voting for President Trump or Republican in general?
I was thinking men got the blue ballots and women got the pink ones, and she was complaining about it.
It sounds as if you agree with me. The Post Office should have NOTHING to do with elections!
Helps the vote counters to know which ones to throw away.
I can see it now. Blue ballots will be lost in the mail.

No, not logical-just lazy. When I lived in Florida, I was a registered “R” and would receive a plain envelope for the primaries. My wife was a registered “I” and would receive a plain envelope as well. It can be done without colors. Now they are highlighting those who are not associated and can hijack their ballots.
It’s a gender reveal!
And what color ballots do the transgenders get?
Isn't it OBVIOUS?
The plan is, "To deny the BLUE ones!"
Easy fix.
Merely switch envelopes when you mail them back.
