King Charles has made his first intervention in the Epstein scandal, saying Buckingham Palace is ready to support the police as they consider allegations against his brother Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.
"The King has made clear, in words and through unprecedented actions, his profound concern at allegations which continue to come to light in respect of Mr Mountbatten-Windsor's conduct," a Palace spokesman said.
"While the specific claims in question are for Mr Mountbatten-Windsor to address, if we are approached by Thames Valley Police we stand ready to support them as you would expect," he said.
Thames Valley Police confirmed it is assessing whether there are grounds to investigate a complaint by the anti-monarchy group Republic, which reported Mountbatten-Windsor for suspected misconduct in public office and breach of official secrets.
Emails from the recently-released batch of Epstein files appear to show the former prince passing on reports of visits to Singapore, Hong Kong and Vietnam and confidential details of investment opportunities.
After the trips, on 30 November 2010, he appears to have forwarded official reports of those visits sent by his then-special adviser, Amit Patel, to Epstein, five minutes after receiving them.
There were also details of investment opportunities in Afghanistan, described as "confidential", which appear to have been passed on to Epstein on 24 December 2010.
Under official guidance, trade envoys have a duty of confidentiality over sensitive, commercial, or political information about their official visits.
The Buckingham Palace statement says that the King and Queen's "thoughts and sympathies have been, and remain with, the victims of any and all forms of abuse".
Earlier on Monday the King had travelled to Clitheroe where a heckler shouted: "How long have you known about Andrew?" The rest of the crowd booed the man putting the question.
"Their thoughts remain focused on the victims," said a Kensington Palace spokesperson, ahead of Prince William's visit to...

The big-eared genetic grease-trap is more concerned about little bro than his country going down the loo in a crumpet tin.
“Charlie can hear the baying of the Jimmy Savile hounds getting closer.”
How poetically stated, and how true.
LOL. Throw him right under the bus, Charles, and don’t look back. Of course, Andrew should be thrown under the bus for his disgusting behavior. But I’m old enough to remember the 1980s and 1990s Charles. He is no paragon of virtue no matter how much his PR team has tried to reform his image. He may not be quite as sleazy as Andrew, but that’s a low bar. Charles is still tampon Charles who turned his marriage vows and the Royal Family into the original soap opera. The Andrew - Fergie show was bad, but not as bad as the Charles-Diana-Camilla show.
Randy Andy needs to convert to Islam and then his brother will embrace him.
He was stripped of the Prince, and Duke of York titles.
Pedophilia runs in the Mountbatten family.
It’s too bad the IRA had to kill some innocents when they blew Lord Mountbatten to smithereens.
Perhaps Duke of Epstein would be a fitting title.
Yes, he was already stripped fully of all titles over this issue.
The original Tampon speaks
I thought we were talking about Rodney King.
He still has a Duke Title (Duke of York) that Charles cannot revoke. He does NOT have 10,000 men, however.
I was mistaken anout the Duke of York title. He IS still in the line of succession and remains a Counsellor of State.
Would coming out as a tranny have the same effect?
The Royal Famisly is a hidden freak show.
EXCEPT THE ABUSE DIANA SUFFERED, EH, CHARLES???
Charles: Oh. God. I'll just live inside your trousers or something. It would be much easier!
Camilla: What are you going to turn into, a pair of knickers? Oh, You're going to come back as a pair of knickers.
Charles: Or, God forbid a Tampax. Just my luck!
Camilla: You are a complete idiot. Oh, what a wonderful idea.
Charles: My luck to be chucked down the lavatory and go on and on forever swirling round on the top, never going down.
Camilla: Oh, Darling!
Charles: Until the next one comes through.
Camilla: Oh, perhaps you could come back as a box.
Charles: What sort of box?
Camilla: A box of Tampax, so you could just keep going.
After that revelation, one might be inclined to think of Diana favorably in that she and Charles were married at the time. As it happened though, she carried on a number of affairs during the marriage, misconduct that she permitted to be revealed to the public. Notably, one of Diana's back door men was a red-headed army officer that Prince Harry grew to have a considerable resemblance to. Oh well.
Moreover, the reason why Diana's death was not treated as a big mystery by the French authorities was that they had the benefit of close scrutiny of the accident scene and the bodies. The French government did not publicly reveal the details or their assessment, but I know of the conclusions of an American accident expert whom they consulted for an independent review and opinion.
The American expert found that the details of Diana's accident and the injuries to her and Dodi led inescapably to the conclusion that the driver crashed because he had become distracted and turned around to investigate noises coming from the back seat. It seems that Diana had taken off her seat belt and had unzipped and begun servicing Dodi as their limo recklessly and dangerously sped through a tunnel.
King Charles has reason for "profound concern" as to Andrew's ties with Epstein. The long grift of the House of Windsor may be near the end of its run. Andrew seems to have gotten cash from Epstein in return for British economic and trade secrets. In a pinch, Andrew's best defense will be to threaten to spill the details of similar misconduct by other royals and members of the British establishment. A handful of British coppers may now have the fate of the British monarchy in their hands.
“Their thoughts remain focused on their legacies,” a palace spokesman accidentally admitted.
