The British government said it had referred Peter Mandelson's correspondence with Jeffery Epstein to police because it appeared that "market sensitive information" had been "compromised."
LONDON — A rare royal apology, resignations and allegations of leaked government intel: The new release of Epstein documents has provoked outrage and a demand for answers in Europe over ties between prominent figures and the late sex offender.
Norway’s royal family has found itself at the center of a storm over the more than 3 million documents the Justice Department released Friday. And in Britain, the former Prince Andrew and his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, have faced renewed pressure.
This time, however, the focus in the United Kingdom is not on the palace but on the country’s “Prince of Darkness.”
Peter Mandelson, a longtime political grandee who earned that nickname with a reputation as a ruthless political fixer and schemer, stepped down as a member of the House of Lords on Tuesday. He faces an intensifying scandal over emails that appear to show him leaking sensitive political and market information to Epstein.
London’s Metropolitan Police, which earlier said it was reviewing reports of “alleged misconduct in public office” to determine whether it met the threshold for criminal investigation, announced late Tuesday that it had “launched an investigation into a 72-year-old man, a former Government Minister, for misconduct in public office offences.” As is customary, it did not identify by name who was being investigated.
Mandelson had already resigned as the U.K.’s ambassador to the United States in September after revelations about his friendship with Epstein emerged.

Starmer could be brought down by these Epstein files.
I had always heard that England’s “Prince of Darkness” was Lucas Electronics, for their shoddy contribution to Jaguars and other Brit marques.
Thanks Democrats. The Trump’s curse is stronger than ever.
I thought they meant Ozzy Osbourne.
As the media tries to redirect -- look over there, a squirrel ! -- many more names in those millions of pages will be looked into more closely.
I suspect many "players" in influence peddling and subtle leveraging will be "outed." This will cost media yet more growing mistrust, to be sure, as well as "parties" who as a matter of policy have looked away.
Why any rational person would be enthralled by “royals”, pay them any attention , wish to pay taxes to support them or actually be influenced by them is bizarre.
The part I am most interested in is who was running Epstein. I don’t believe he was running his perv farm merely for himself. Has the reticence in publishing these documents been to hide US and allied intelligence agencies? Have promises of silence been made for various actions (like put a back door in your operating system and this stays secret) which has been destroyed by this release, this making future blackmail threats worth less? You can’t promise future blackmailees silence for some type of payment if there’s a history of info dumps.
In England, the British Monarchy is a comparatively conservative Institution. It has also provided a uniting point for Brits regardless of Party. Its cost is far less than the security alone that we provide for the U.S. President. Heck, its less than what we spend on Somalis in Minnesota.
Not every place has to be a U.S. style Republic.
So the democrats demanded these files be released even though they could have just gotten them from Biden.
They wanted to nail Trump.
Instead, they got everyone else. Swing and a miss, dems.
So your saying merely being the 26x great grandson of the the bastard duke who conquered your island no basis for a system of government ?

Yep. It could be the straw that breaks the camel’s back.
But Labour has a huge majority in Parliament. So there’s no requirement for any election. Starmer’s replacement will be picked by the Labour members, and will be just another Starmer.
Or worse.
Starmer is just a placeholder, like the rest of them.
So Andrew is the Prince of Pedophiles then
Starmer is threatening to call a general election to pre-empt any coup
An interesting idea. He can do it as well
They call it the nuclear option
The son of the Norwegian princess, and future queen, is on trial for multiple rapes. She sent loving messages to Epstein for several years AFTER he was imprisoned for felony rape of minors, a convicted pedophile. Like Katy Couric and George Stephanopoulus (who had a formal dinner with Epstein after his release) are we to believe that these wealthy people who are constantly in and aware of the news, did not know that they were associating with a rank, filthy pedophile? My assumption is that they considered themselves above the rest of us, the media and governments would protect them, so they really didn’t care.
The British and European press are brutal.... The US media more compliant it seems?
Well gee whiz! That explains it. If British unity depends on the progeny and legacy of Henty VIII, then it is understandable that the country is now on the brink of cultural collapse.
That’s the kind of ‘virtue signalling’ we see here whenever the monarchy is mentioned.
But I’m sure it can seem bizarre, to someone never born into it and unable to understand what it means to those who were.
The British royals have followed every leftist dictat out there—which means they are an enemy of free people everywhere.
Their “climate change” pronouncements alone make their future beheading a public good.
Oh yeah, the Lucas Three Position Switch: Dim, Flicker and Off!
Why is beer served warm in the UK? Because Lucas makes refridgerators too!
