That's Rich: Leftist Senator Who Opposes Voter ID Has Requirement to Attend His Event… Your Papers

Those on the Left are notorious for their “do as I say, not as I do” rhetoric. They fly around in jets while screeching about climate change, they talk about affordability but want to raise your taxes at every chance they get, they pass soft-on-crime laws while enjoying private security, and so on.

Georgia Dem Sen. John Ossoff has reportedly taken the hypocrisy to an almost ludicrous level. He’s opposed to voter ID and the SAVE Act, you see, but if you want to come to his campaign event, be prepared to show your papers.

The level of gall is almost laugh-out-loud:

The Georgia senator is requiring government-issued identification for members of the public to attend his election rally Saturday while opposing similar requirements to cast a ballot in elections.

Ossoff has emerged as one of the strongest fighters against election security measures, not only opposing the SAVE Act to require government-issued identification verification to vote but even introducing legislation to enshrine into laws the right to vote without proving one’s identity. His bill, the misleadingly labeled Right to Vote Act, would make it harder for states to ensure election integrity by implementing voter ID.

According to reports, the emailed invitation to his campaign event read, “Due to security requirements … be ready to show ID that matches our RSVP list and these arrival instructions (printed or on your phone).”

No word yet if he’ll be making remarks blasting voter ID at the event.

His potential future competitor, GOP Rep. Mike Collins (GA-10), who is running in the Republican primary for Ossoff’s Senate seat, noted the irony — or shall we say, utter hypocrisy — of Ossoff’s requirement:

Jon Ossoff is about to vote against the SAVE Act, but is requiring a government-issued ID to get into his rally in Atlanta tomorrow.

There should be more security in American elections than there is to listen to Jon Ossoff's lies.

Collins also issued a statement to the press:

"Typical Jon Ossoff to say one thing and do another. It’s ridiculous that Jon Ossoff would require a government ID to listen to him speak about why you shouldn’t need a government ID to vote," Collins said in a statement to Fox News Digital.

Dems Will Not Be Happy Their Narrative Against Voter ID Just Got Demolished by Liberal Media

As our Rusty Weiss reported, Dems are all-in on stopping the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act, because God forbid you should have to prove who you are when you vote. Ossoff said in 2025 about the measure: “This is a nakedly partisan, totally unworkable, bad-faith bill cynically intended to disenfranchise millions of eligible voters."

You can’t buy a beer, fly on a plane, or attend John Ossoff’s event without identification, but you shouldn’t need it to vote, their thinking goes. Of course, it makes no sense, but that’s often the case with liberal policies, especially when it comes to illegal immigration.

More Democrat hypocrisy. Why not? It’s another day ending in “y.”

Jon Ossof was almost certainly put into office by Venezuela/China/Cuba/Iran/Russia/Serbia.
