The White House is dismissing backlash over a meme video the president posted on Truth Social late Thursday depicting former President Barack Obama and former first lady Michelle Obama as gorillas.
“This is from an internet meme video depicting President Trump as the King of the Jungle and Democrats as characters from ‘The Lion King,'” press secretary Karoline Leavitt said in a statement.
“Please stop the fake outrage and report on something today that actually matters to the American public.”
*** The roughly one-minute video was mostly focused on claims of vote rigging in the 2020 election but showed AI-generated images of the Obamas while the song “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” played in the background.
Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) broke with the White House over the video, saying in a statement on X: “Praying it [the post] was fake because it’s the most racist thing I’ve seen out of this White House. The President should remove it.”

lol - that’s great.
President Trump is always cslculated. So, what’s his play here? Making the media talk about the 2020 steal? Something else?
It doesn’t matter if the outrage is fake.
It still could be costly among Trump’s newly acquired black male voters. It was stupid.
There are plenty of other ways to portray Zero and the Mooch as stupid, destructive, thugs.
You aren’t equal if you can’t be teased.
Notice, the mooch is bigger than the little twerp.
Wrong basket. Own goal. Jim Marshall running the wrong way.

Usually, but not always. Sometimes he just shoots from the hip.
Then the results vary.
Oh great. The virtue signaling will be off the charts this weekend.
Remember Bushitler, or ChimpGWB? What’s the problem?
As often happens, there is no link to the actual video showing how many others are depicted as monkeys or lions or parrots or wild boars. The context probably defuses the outrage, but because it is predictable, Trump made an unforced error.
“It still could be costly among Trump’s newly acquired black male voters. It was stupid.”
I agree. An unforced error.
They can call us Nazis. I guess we have to suck it up.
But they seem pretty sensitive. I guess it’s another one of those double standards.

You sure don't have much faith in black Trump voters.
It took a hell of a load of guts for them to leave the plantation, and I don't think many will abandon Trump over a meme.
BTW, real conservatives look at each new voter as an individual, not a group of "newly acquired black male voters".
WTF?
Who thought this was a good idea?
Some of us remember Dubya portrayed as a chimp.
Is the outrage fake? Yes. Is this an unnecessary distraction and unforce error by Trump. Yes. Susie Wiles was supposed to rein this stuff in.
The opinion of a "Browns Fan" is as worthless as teats on a bull, and as bad as the "Stillers" have been for the past 10 years, you can still drive over and look at our SIX Lombardi Trophies.
Maybe he was just being idiotic
