The Russian invasion force is in disarray following the deactivation of its Starlink satellite communications. Meanwhile Ukrainians are rushing to get their terminals whitelisted to maintain the service.
Both sides have made extensive use of the commercial Starlink service, which provides long-range, jam-resistant communication. Now the service operated by SpaceX is being denied to the Russians, and only terminals officially registered in Ukraine will work.
“The Starlink terminals added to the ‘whitelist’ are working. The Russians’ terminals have already been blocked,” Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov said in a statement on Thursday,
The effect on the Russians has been catastrophic, with some units reporting 90% loss of internet communications. There have reportedly been a rash of ‘friendly fire’ incidents as the Russians struggle to tell friend from foe.
“All command and control of the [Russian] troops has collapsed. Assault operations have been halted in many areas,” stated Serhii ‘Flash’ Beskrestnov, electronic warfare expert and adviser to Fedorov.

This may be a “show of force” by Musk not just to the Russians but to France and any other EU country looking to bring charges against him and X. FAFO.
And anybody who thinks globalists aren't salivating at that opportunity is lost in space.
Kiev in two weeks!
The notion that Russia uses American/Musk starlink for communications is absurd.
These Davos-Deep state propaganda orgs will literally say anything.
Or perhaps it’s retaliation for the jamming capabilities that Russia used on Starlink to support Iran’s Mullahs that resulted in 10s of thousands of civilian deaths.
The notion that Russia uses American/Musk starlink for communications is absurd.
They probably are using them for front line Drone operations. My understanding of the war, it’s a drone war. So yes, they are hampered at the front by Musk shutting it down to them.
Not enough Russians have died to get Putin to the peace table yet.
That sounds like the most reasonable conclusion.
What will they have you do once this war is over?
The easy solution for isolationists then would be to use a non-global platform.
What will they have you do once this war is over?
I am not employed, helped, or even associated with either side. I just see death, for no good reason, and hope it stops.
However, that still doesn't change the reality that this conflict should have never been allowed for it to proceed to a kenetic stage, and it certainly wasn't the aim to save Ukraine at all. The criminal enterprise referred to as, the Deep State, started this conflict to gain even more power, it was using Ukraine as the patsy to prevent it from becoming WWIII between nuclear possessing nations that would hsve quiickly gone nuclear.
The notion that Russia uses American/Musk starlink for communications is absurd.

Russian Offensive Campaign Assessment, February 5, 2026
Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov reported on February 5 that the first group of officially authorized Starlink terminals are operational within the Ukrainian military and that Russian Starlinks cannot operate within Ukraine.
Fedorov noted the process to verify Ukrainian Starlinks is ongoing. Several Russian milbloggers complained that Russian forces no longer could use terminals and voiced concerns about the effects that the loss of Starlink capabilities could have on the battlefield.
The commander of a Ukrainian unmanned systems brigade reported on February 5 that Russian forces had accumulated a significant number of Starlinks recently and that the terminals provided Russian forces with stable interunit communications.
The commander stated that Russian forces began integrating Starlinks to control drones, but that efforts to block Russian Starlinks will deny Russian forces the ability to conduct reconnaissance and strike missions and communication between groups and complicate Russian offensive operations. The commander noted that the recent blocks on Russian terminals have not “brought down” Russian forces, but have caused Russian forces significant losses.
Russian forces may not be able to conduct their BAI campaign at the same tempo and depth as in recent weeks without Starlink terminals. Russian forces have recently used Starlink-enabled drones to conduct real time targeting and extend the ranges on drones for strikes against moving targets like trains and against Ukrainian vehicles along the E-50 Pokrovsk-Pavlohrad highway in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast.
Russian forces will likely struggle to maintain this BAI campaign at the same intensity levels in the near-term unless Russian forces are able to find workarounds to the blocks or adapt new technological solutions to replace Starlink.
LOL - neocon / Kagan-run “Institute For Study of War” quotes Ukrainian Defense Chief saying Russians can’t use starlink in Ukraine. Thus proving Russians are using starlink in Ukraine
You guys pile the BS, on top of your BS
What a clusterfuck. I can appreciate Elon taking sides in this but Ukraine has a lot to answer for too. Their corruption was the reason Russia invaded in the first place.
It’s dirtbag vs dirtbag here.
Say what? So Russia a more corrupt country than corrupt Ukraine invaded it because of corruption? Feel free to try to make that gibberish make sense
Yup, Russians use starlink for drones and artillery corrections. Even Russian tanks have startlinks to communicate and correct their indirect fire.
Russian Ministry of Defence does not provide satellite internet to the troops
The Russian version, Yamal 601, Russian front-line troops routinely disparage: "This piece of shit works intermittently and traffic is limited. The speed is fucking awful. In short, it's a faggot in disguise."
