Donald Trump has posted a video on Truth Social depicting Barack and Michelle Obama as apes.
The clip, which he shared late last night, focuses on his accusations of fraud during the 2020 election.
An AI video shows the faces of the former president and first lady imposed on the bodies of apes, followed by The Tokens' song The Lion Sleeps Tonight.
The clip belongs to a pro-Trump account on X but was reposted by the President on his Truth Social platform.
Trump's latest swipe at the Obama family sparked widespread condemnation across the political divide.
'Disgusting behavior by the President,' wrote California Governor Gavin Newsom's press office wrote on X. 'Every single Republican must denounce this. Now.'
It is unclear if Trump was aware of the Obama imagery. Soon after, he posted a video detailing the history of the black conservative movement in the GOP.
Trump's longstanding feud with Obama stretches back decades, beginning when he first promoted claims that the 44th president was born outside the United States.
The White House doubled down on Trump's swipe at the Obama family.
'This is from an internet meme video depicting President Trump as the King of the Jungle and Democrats as characters from the Lion King,' White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt told the Daily Mail.
'Please stop the fake outrage and report on something today that actually matters to the American public.'
Anti-Trump Republicans on X condemned the President's latest insult, accusing Trump of promoting racist imagery.

I support Trump 1000%
But this was a stupid thing to do
Dats Rassiss.
How to unnecessarily make yourself look bad.
It was incredibly stupid and plays right into the accusation that people who support Trump are racist. I am beginning to think locking down his access to social media would be a political kindness.
That Trump posted this is fact not fake. Karoline Leavitt says that the outrage about it is fake.
Yeah, this time it is. How Trump does not get that shows just how unaware he can be at times. I don’t for a moment think he is racist but perception matters in politics.
Ah, the Daily Fail.
Nuff said.
What is he doing? Take a walk through the new ball room if you can’t sleep. Jeez
Leavitt should not be defending stuff like this. Nor should there be an over abundance of mea-culpas. It should be allowed to die a swift death after a very brief statement of regret for posting it.
Yet another unforced error. SMH
Stepping right into the poo. Makes me think this was a hack. If somebody under Trump re-posted this, he should be fired immediately. Dumb, dumb, dumb.
He gave them just what they wanted.
The Left was constantly making memes of GW Bush as a chimp. What’s the difference?
Got it. thanks
I would have thought he was smarter than that.
I love Trump but time and time and time again he posts things on social media that he shouldn’t. He’s the president of the United States, not a social media star. This is not dignified. Susie Wiles was supposed rein things like this in. She was able to for a while but he’s back to his old tricks. Once again, I love Trump and some of these posts are funny. But he should not be doing it.
I am not in favor of that sort of thing; there are plenty of issues with which to tag them legitimately. Monkey business isn’t one of them.
But the worst of Trump is better than the best of RATs.
It is kinda insulting to apes
