House to vote next week to require citizenship check and photo ID for voting, upping Senate pressure

The U.S. House of Representatives will vote next week on a new bill that would require all states to check both citizenship and photo identification before allowing voters to cast ballots, combining two widely popular election integrity provisions and ramping up pressure on a Senate that has been unwilling to consider either mandate.

House Majority Leader Steve Scalise, R-La., and Rep. Chip Roy, R-Texas, confirmed in an interview Wednesday evening with Just the News that the vote will be held next week for the Save America Act, which combines the two requirements that have passed the House individually but not received a vote in the GOP-controlled Senate.

Roy is the chief sponsor of the legislation in the House, joined by Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, in the Senate.

"I'm announcing that we are bringing Chip's bill, the SAVE America Act, to the House floor next week," Scalise said in an interview on the John Solomon Reports podcast. "So it's on the floor, and everybody's got to pick a side: do you want to make sure that only American citizens vote in elections and that you have to show an ID to vote?

The GOP is trying to find a way to vote on the SAVE Act without having to actually pass the Act. They want to tell the voters they "did what the could, but just couldn't get it passed".

Remember, it's not just Democrats who depend on fraudulent ballots or tallying in order to get elected (or reelected).

Schumer said it’s Jim Crow 2.0 (how original) and they will stop it.

Thune obliged since he’s a Democrat pretending to be a Republican.

And they are making it so that a court can easily and surely overturn it as too burdensome this close to an election.

I get needing to prove citizenship, but you do that at registration. Once registered you shouldn’t have to prove it again.

Welcome the Electoral Count for any state in a federal election that meets election integrity laws. If they choose to not do so, they will not be submitting results that will be apportioned towards that count.

Have a nice day.

You don’t have to prove anything in Minnesota. You don’t need any proof that you live here.

How many politicians will be bought off by the Chinese Communist Party, with their proxies, the Democratic Party, to oppose this bill?

In 2022, Democrats controlled House and Senate. Their top priority was to nuke the filibuster so they could REQUIRE easy election cheating nationwide (mail-in ballots requested online, mail-in ballots received up to 7 days after election day, drop boxes, voter ID outlawed except for signature or simple affirmation). The bills passed in the house, but they failed in the Senate only because center-left Democrats Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema did not want top nuke the filibuster.

Many state registration lists have large percentages of false registrants. This makes them subject to numerous fraud schemes.

Wisconsin has about 4.8 million voters registered. 11.3% of registrants have multiple illegal voter I.D. numbers.

From americanthinker.com:

Paquette has previously confirmed that algorithms placed in the State Board of Elections (SBOE) databases make it possible to modify duplicate voter records to create non-existent voters with legitimate state voter IDs. These modified duplicate “clone” voter records hide in the SBOE voter registration database, subject to criminals using “algorithm record locators” to request mail-in ballots for these “non-existent” voters, which then allows mail-in ballot fraud on a mass scale.

https://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2025/04/wisconsin_s_supreme_court_election_screams_for_department_of_justice_criminal_investigation.html

Democrats are resolutely opposed to voter I.D.

This is a full frontal assault on some of the folks that vote, we all know they vote, but the Democrats tell us they don’t count on these votes and the media ignores the story.

If the government clamps down on election fraud, that will IMHO impact elections significantly in certain areas.

The states are in charge of their elections according to the Constitution. This is a waste of time. Cleaning up the voting rolls would accomplish more good and that is on a state by state basis.

True.

On many issues, they are the same, Democrats and Republicans.

There is a lot of pretending that they are different, and they love to latch onto trash and pop culture issues to differentiate themselves. But on MOST of the real and important issues, like trade with China, Saudi Arabia, our Southern border... One and the same.

Trump is the exception. He’s an anomaly.

Trump is if you really think about it, is a huge paradox. A more secular, with a mouth like a sailor has done more for Christians than any of his predecessors post WWII. A big city New Yorker that is more in line with fly over country on MOST issues (example gun control). An ivy league college educated billionaire that has done more for the working class / blue collar America than anyone since Nixon.

And passing it in the House is useless unless they pass it in the Senate, which would require them doing the filibuster, which they are too damn gutless NOT to do..if they passed Trumps ENTIRE agenda by filibuster they would win the midterms easily

Electoral votes should be one county, one electoral vote. Everyone gets represented not just populated cities. Good luck with that right?

No doubt!
It’ll choke in the Senate.

I hope not. But, it’s a poor bet.

Just remove the Senators and Representatives from the states that cheated in the 2020 Election when the vote comes up. Lay an objection on the table before voting. Do the same for the states that did not comply with the Fed request for voter roll data from 2020.

“The states are in charge of their elections according to the Constitution”

The one huge mistake the founders made that needs to be corrected, why would a FEDERAL election not have FEDERAL rules and guidelines for the voting?
