Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) says he does not support President Trump’s proposal for Republicans to “take over” voting procedures in more than a dozen states and “nationalize” the midterm elections, declaring Trump’s call to action as blatantly unconstitutional.

I don’t think electronics voting machines were in the Constitution either.
Prove it Rand. If they are running for Federal office, they should the Fed should have some guidelines.
I am not sure anymore that Rand know what is in the Constitution. Unless it says whatever he say it says.
The Constitution also doesn’t recognize the existence of a popular vote. No need for any nation wide campaigning. The state legislatures vote on electors and they then meet and vote for a president. Is Paul now advocating that? I would support hat!
He’s right.
I like President Trump a lot.
I don’t like to hear him say the states are “agents” of the federal government.
The federal government is the agent of the states.
If some corrupt officials need tossing in jail, toss them in jail.
Fine, I am curious though. Where does the Constitution allow for the President to “nationalize” elections? If that is indeed the goal of Trump’s proposals and actions.
the fed govt can certainly “take over” the administration of federal elections
(and as for history, the fed govt effectively “took over” or at least seized control over state admin of elections for state offices when it came to race discrimination issues — so there is that precedent for whatever it may be worth)
The problem Senator Paul refuses to acknowledge is that the “voting procedures” in many locales are riddled with blatant fraud that is severely detrimental to the country as a whole. The federal government is the only entity that can deal with this corruption.
Trump had better “nationalize” the coming elections. If the Democrats take control of Congress, the evil of the Biden Administration will return. Laws will not be enforced and decadent socialism will extend its roots throughout American cultureand its institutions. Much is at stake.
He is 100% correct. And aside that, if the meglomaniac in chief, or anyone targets specific states as indicated, then that violates the equal protection clause.
Trump is not trying to nationalize elections in terms of who manages them. He does want national standards for election integrity. For example, States do not define citizenship nor proof thereof. Trump is not proposing that the Feds hire the contractors or maintain the voter rolls. There is nothing unconstitutional about that.
He’s right, though. The states are the sole arbiter and authorities of their elections. I was and still am against the federal act that required some standardization of how voting machines should work within the states but it was presented as “guidelines” (with a lot of money offered if the state followed, the “guidelines”)
Bingo! And the Constitution doesn’t say anything about the friggin DemonRATS importing 20 million illegal aliens to use to vote for them.
Correct, Art I, section 4. I don’t see federal control happening however. Better to clean up the process with the Save Act.
Will we destroy our Republic to save it?
"The Times, Places and Manner of holding Elections for Senators and Representatives, shall be prescribed in each State by the Legislature thereof; but the Congress may at any time by Law make or alter such Regulations, except as to the Places of chusing Senators."
Voting age is set federally, as are identification requirements for air travel. No reason identification related to proof of citizenship can’t be mandated. The constitution sets boundaries. It doesn’t cover much of the detail.
“ but the Congress may at any time by Law make or alter such Regulations”
Oh, that Constitution?
