Mayor Mamdani’s Gracie Mansion noticeably trash-free as UES neighbors drown in 8-foot piles of garbage

Eight-foot piles of rat-infested trash are choking the streets around Gracie Mansion — which has gotten white-glove shoveling treatment as Mayor Zohran Mamdani crows he can’t “imagine how it could get better’’ in the city.

While Hizzoner’s Upper East Side neighbors are forced to trudge through garbage-plagued roads, roaming rodents and mounds of snow tainted with dog pee a full week after Winter Storm Fern, the sidewalks outside the lefty mayor’s digs on East 88th Street are squeaky clean.

“Clean as a whistle for the mayor,” Rivers said. “Look at this side.”

“This side” is marred by massive piles of garbage as high as 6 feet that have been building for days and attracting rats — even as Mamdani pats himself on the back, claiming he’s keeping things on track, including while New Yorkers are dying in the cold.

Other neighborhood streets are home to even higher piles of debris — some as tall as 8 feet.

“I’m new to the job,” the mayor said Friday. “I know the burdens will get heavier, but right now I struggle to imagine how it could be better.”

History doesn't always repeat itself but oftentimes it rhymes. In 1968 NYC was hit with major transit and sanitation workers strikes, just before one of the worst blizzards to hit the NY metro area in 1969. His ineptitude and lack of decsicive action almost cost him re election. He was a vintage RINO who switched parties to salvage his political career.

Things will be getting much worse in New York City. Mamdani is creating an even worse high tax, lawless city with new bursensome regulations and dictates published daily. The economic well being of New York depends of people commiting private capital into housing and commerce which they feel will have a good return on investment. Given the political realities in NYC, fewer and fewer people will put their capital at risk . New York will become increasingly impoverished with much vacant commercial real estate.

Somebody put the trash in those bags. It surely wasn’t the homeless. Maybe because of the storm, garbage pickup wasn’t available. Homeless don’t bag up their trash.

If you chose to live there, don’t complain. I grew up in southern California when the state was paradise. I knew it was time to leave when my wife kept the front door locked all day to keep vagrants from possibly trying to get in. We had a large vagrant camp about a mile from our house.

And I understand people have jobs. Both of my kids left California and both are making more money now than before they left. My understanding is, there are a lot of jobs in the Dallas area.

Wanna bet that it becomes a 3 or 4 year plan (then heavily circumscribed, means tested, and with the definition of "free" re-visited)?

Communists have a habit of limiting the availability of goods and services. In this case, it apparently happens before the service even begins.

I remember NYC being pretty clean everywhere when I used to visit during Rudy’s days and even during Bloomberg’s days. At least around Manhattan, Staten Island and Brooklyn.

I haven’t been back since and have no desire to go there again.
