California Attorney General Rob Bonta has filed a lawsuit against Rady Children's Hospital in San Diego, alleging that the hospital violated the terms of its merger agreement with Children's Hospital of Orange County by discontinuing gender-affirming care for minors.

Rady Children's Hospital stated that the issue began when the Trump administration threatened to shut down the hospital for offering gender-affirming care to individuals under 18. In response to the threat, the hospital announced the closure of its gender-affirming care center, which led to the lawsuit from the state.

Curious how the state of California has standing. If the merger was between two hospitals not the state.

The current California regime is commie-nazi-whatever, suing legitimate businesses for obeying federal regulations... this costs the hospital (or other businesses) a ton of legal expenses.... for nothing....

no wonder business and investment are running away from Californication as fast as they can

I have mixed feelings on this. I of course oppose chopping off and adding reproductive bits of children and am miffed he is pursuing this. Yet I am also a bit elated to learn the crime rate in California has dropped so low that the State’s chief legal officer has time for this.

One sure way to bankrupt the hospital is by suing them. Most aren’t run that well to begin with.

“One sure way to bankrupt the hospital is by suing them. Most aren’t run that well to begin with.”

Also a sure way to create hospital deserts.

That’s assuming reducing the crime rate is even a priority for him.

I think the merger cannot take place without State's permission...State is looking out for "public interest"...

When I was around sixteen, I REALLY wanted to pierce my ears. Clip-on earrings were a drag, and everybody had pierced ears except me. Mom said I couldn’t have it done till I was 17, and only by a licensed professional (ie: my family doctor). So I waited till I was 17, went to the doctor and had it done.

I can’t imagine what she would have said if I asked her to cut off my boobs.

I’m sure glad I never did.
