Russia spares Ukraine’s energy grid after Trump push — but only until Sunday, Kremlin says

"Ukraine saw a rare overnight lull in attacks on energy infrastructure after President Trump personally urged Russian President Vladimir Putin to pause strikes — but the Kremlin said Friday the brief reprieve will last only through Sunday.

There were no overnight strikes on energy facilities in Ukraine after Trump called on Putin to spare them as frigid temperatures leave civilians in danger of freezing to death, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in a post to X.

“Over the past night, there were no strikes on energy facilities,” Zelensky wrote.

But that didn’t stop Moscow from continuing to hit other civilian infrastructure across the country.

“Drone attacks on ordinary residential buildings in cities also continue,” the Ukrainian president said. “A ballistic missile was used against the Kharkiv region – civilian production warehouses were damaged, including those of an American company.”

Thank you very much and God bless you.

Didn't see any threads on this so for whatever it's worth, apparently a ceasefire on civilian energy by Ukraine and Russia started yesterday is in effect until Sunday.

Good thing Ukraine is winning or things could get bad for them.

A week before the invasion UK synced their grid up with europe. Putin didn’t like it. The war will probably end with the territory takeover and the grid synced back up with Russia.

Heh. My wild guess for the moment is that Trump is doing the “tiny steps” approach to his hopeful coming peace agreement (which I don’t think will happen yet). He begged Putin for mercy on the civilians, and Putin threw him a bone. Zelensky had to agree or look really bad.

For the first time, Putin and Zelensky have agreed on something, so Trump has that going for him, momentarily.

LOL, so Russia is winning?

In 2025 Russia suffered around 420,000 casualties to gain control of just 0.8% additional Ukrainian territory. This brought its total losses since the full-scale invasion to over 1.2 million personnel."

Ukraine is winning

Or, neither side is winning.

“The overall front is best described as ‘dynamic stagnation,’ meaning intense combat with marginal geographic change,” said Ivan Torres, a retired US Army major who is now senior Russian armed forces analyst for Rochan Consulting, a Polish research group.

This author is not a journalist, he didn’t spare one sentence to mention that Ukraine is also attacking Russian cities and energy facilities

Most all of Ukraines infrastructure was built by Russians in the Soviet times.

And yet a renown "reverend" just posted a YouTube video, dated 1-30-2026 2:45 P.M, telling that Ukraine has "continued its deep strike campaign against Russia's energy infrastructure to plunge the country into darkness. However, now even the weather is against the Russians, as an arctic storm just struck the Russian grid in tandem with Ukraine's campaign in the south."

Somehow it's more than likely all sides in this war have breached any supposed ceasefire. After all, how does one tell when a "civilian energy" entity is only civilian, on any side?
