Is such a threat protected speech? I don’t think so. At the very least Secret Service needs to pay him a looksee. If he had just opined that Trump should be charged for capital crimes and face the death penalty that is one thing. But the statement “I am going to kill President Trump.” is in the present tense and the “Let me explain...” does not nullify the threat. This is just my opinion.

Making direct threats should not be allowed. That’s inciting violence. He should be arrested. Unfortunately, that could make him a martyr with his supporters. He at least should be prosecuted.
