After nearly two decades of negotiations, India and the European Union announced Tuesday they have reached a free trade agreement to deepen economic and strategic ties. The accord, which the EU chief described as the "mother of all deals," could affect as many as 2 billion people.
The deal between two of the world's biggest markets comes as Washington targets both India and the EU with steep import tariffs, disrupting established trade flows and pushing major economies to seek alternate partnerships.
"This agreement will bring major opportunities for the people of India and Europe," India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in a virtual address to an energy conference. "It represents 25% of the global GDP and one-third of global trade."
The accord will see free trade on almost all goods between the 27 members of the EU and India, covering everything from textiles to medicines and bringing down high import taxes for European wine and cars.

EU Enjoy those goods made by unwashed ,barefoot Indian workers
To the EU, I say this: it’s your funeral.
There goes the EU industrial base.
How many young Indian men will the EU have to take ?
Aren’t they already there?
Good luck EU
You’re going to need it
Many of the European industries survive due to tariffs and other forms of protectionism to remain competitive so the last thing they need to do is forge the same kind of free trade agreements with India that killed the US manufacturing in trade with China
India just does not have that great of an import market but is looking for first world partners on whose back they can follow the China model of economic and industrial development.
The best case scenario seems to be trying to transfer EU already off shored manufacturing to India in hopes of developing a less adversarial alternative to an increasingly aggressive and militarized China
This is looking like the recent Canadian deal with China that Trump just torpedoed to save Canadians from themselves
What I don't see is any discussion in the EU about reversing any of their destructive environmental, immigration or social programs
And the EU migrants policy that favors the importation of lslamic “Asians” over all else does not seem to be that great of a mesh with an India that most of the migrants home countries are openly hostile to and some, like Pakistan , are actively at war with
Good. Maybe all the H-1BR Visa holders will leave the U.S. for Europe.
They will both leach off the other. Both the EU and India are run by freeloading socialist.
How many Dalits will India be sending to the EU on H-1B visas? I doubt the EU will be opening up their markets completely. The trade will be one-sided but the question is who will benefit more from the other?
Russia’s Indian-bought oil will again find its way to Europe.
After all, Native Europeans refuse to stand up for their countries.
If you are going to import third worlders into your country Indians, Koreans and Taiwanese are top choices
White South Africans are the best by far but that is not cool in EU
The EU has imported some of the worst, least entrepreneurial and profoundly destructive migrants imaginable into the EU
They did that on purpose because political parties in the EU (such as Labour) prefer to have a bloc of voters that are dependent on the state so their votes are guaranteed—forever.
Indian manufacturing makes Chinese manufacturing look like Korean manufacturing.
Modi is going country to country to convince them to take his surplus population. And they fall for it.
We'll offer Canada to Modi.
Only the high caste are immigrating. You don’t want to see what is left in India. In the anus of s holes India is the hemorrhoid on the anus of s holes. I visited a friend (White guy from France) who has a place in Pondycheri. Everything in that s hole is a s hole. And the Indians love living that way.
