Summary

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer says Donald Trump's remarks about British troops in Afghanistan are "insulting and frankly appalling"

"If I had misspoken in that way - or said those words - I would certainly apologise," he says.

The US president's comments have sparked outrage among UK veterans and politicians.

The UK was among several allies to join the US in Afghanistan from 2001, after it invoked Nato's collective security clause following the 9/11 terror attacks - 457 British service personnel were killed in the conflict

Corporal Andy Reid, who served in Afghanistan, tells the BBC Trump's claim is "very disrespectful", while the mother of a soldier killed there in 2009 calls the comments "soul-destroying"

Re starmer:

Coming from an asshole that’s letting his own country be overrun, invaded, and his people be murdered…

British men need to stand up and make things right in their own country… And that includes dealing with traitors.

Here is what I said on another similar post:

NATO’s Article 5 has been invoked only once in history, after the September 11 attacks on the United States. European nations answered that call. The United Kingdom, France, Denmark, and many others deployed troops, weapons, intelligence assets, and fighter jets to Afghanistan. More than 1,000 European soldiers died as a result.

So when Donald Trump claimed in Davos that America would defend NATO members while those same allies would not come to America’s aid, the remark was not just inaccurate. It was an insult to the European families who lost their sons in a war fought in response to an attack on the United States.

Since World War II, European allies have repeatedly shed blood in support of American-led military operations. France and the United Kingdom also participated in Operation Desert Storm.

Even Ukraine, which isn’t even a NATO member, sent troops to assist the United States, some of whom were killed.

Trump’s statement ignored these sacrifices entirely. Dismissing the lives lost by allies who answered America’s call was unnecessary and disrespectful.

PS. Also... America didn’t want to help Europe militarily during WWII, it refused to take active part of the war. The only reason the U.S. finally entered the war, years later, was because Germany declared war against America. Thus, at that point... it didn’t have any other choice than to join the war, evidently.

“”””If I had misspoken in that way - or said those words - I would certainly apologise,” he says. “”””

Coming from a place that arrests people for saying the wrong thing perhaps he should just shut up.

***

Awww! Kommie Keir finds some “words” appalling and insulting. You know what’s really appalling? Throwing your own citizens in prison for speaking their minds which happens to be the truth... about the disaster you’ve created via globalist agenda policies like open borders, flooding your country with hoards of savage “immigrants”, and cracking down on your LEGAL citizens like it’s your own, private Orwellian 1984 nightmare of a totalitarian regime.

As for that apology, you’ll get a chance to apologize one day, Keir. I suspect that your apology will fall on deaf ears, so to speak, when God says he never knew you. But hey, buck up, Keir....there’s always Lucy open to hearing it! And I’m sure that’s what you’re counting on.

” More than 1,000 European soldiers died as a result.”

All of them ferried there and supplied by the US.

And all of them protected by US facilities during downtime.

If they had to get there on their own and fight with their own resources they would never have gone.

Every military in Europe is a joke excepting Ukraine. And even Ukraine has zero ability to project power.

And that is unbelievably sad… That that old veteran live long enough to see his country turned into a crap hole.

My old man was World War II airborne; twice wounded and decorated for bravery. He died at 54 years old when I was a kid. Sometimes I’m glad he didn’t live to see the Obama error and Biden.
