A funny thing happened this week that you wouldn’t think possible from reading the common narrative of President Trump as a Frankenstein’s monster unchained to do whatever he wants: He backed down from his demands to own Greenland. And he did so after financial markets, European allies and the U.S. Congress raised objections. The “authoritarian” Trump narrative was wrong again.
This isn’t to dismiss Mr. Trump’s often wild demands and threats. They have consequences in lost trust among allies and doubts about American reliability. These costs are hard to quantify, but they are real and may show up in a future crisis.
But the reality is also that, despite his over-the-top rhetoric, Mr. Trump can’t get away with whatever he likes. He is constrained by democratic institutions in the U.S., the necessity of maintaining alliances abroad, and public opinion as measured by polls and investors.
The Greenland saga is a telling example. On Saturday Mr. Trump issued his demand to own the icy island and he vowed to impose tariffs on Europe to compel a sale. Opposition built over the holiday weekend, and financial markets cast a decidedly negative vote on the tariffs and threats on Tuesday.
Members of Congress spoke against the use of military force in Greenland, with even GOP leaders expressing doubts. One Senator told us that, if Mr. Trump had gone ahead, Congress would have voted to cut off funds for an invasion, and with veto-proof majorities. European leaders also made clear that taking Greenland by force, military or otherwise, would break the NATO alliance.
And what do you know? On Wednesday in Davos, Mr. Trump issued his familiar criticisms of Europe’s weakness, many of which are accurate. But he disavowed the use of force.

Trump got exactly what he wanted.
“ART OF THE DEAL: How President Trump Outplayed EVERYONE On Greenland”
https://wltreport.com/2026/01/22/art-deal-how-president-trump-outplayed-everyone-greenland/
President Trump just ran the Art of the Deal to perfection once again and almost no one noticed….
In fact, some people are actually saying Trump caved or didn’t get what he wanted.
Nonsense!
Here’s the deal we just got — and notice who pays in #1 and #5:
1) Denmark has to keep paying the population of Greenland $600 million per year.
2) USA gets sovereignty over whichever parts we want for US military bases
3) USA gets mineral rights
4) China and Russia aren’t allowed in Greenland
5) Cost $0.00
Yes, “ART OF THE DEAL”. HOORAY President Trump!
The WSJ is butt hurt that their tariff doom and gloom never happened. Idiots.

What a ignorant take on what happen. President Trump got what he was after, the right to put our military inside Greenland, and that it was forever, and the land the bases were on belong to the United States. How is this a failure?
“ART OF THE DEAL: How President Trump Outplayed EVERYONE On Greenland”
In 1990, after I read the book, I absolutely knew he should be POTUS some day.
Yeah, well they're fags. Just like the WSJ editors.
WSJ was once a great publication.
That was Long Long AGO.
But the same thing can be said a at much higher level by the entire Lying Bought Main Stream Media.
Right now, I expect a few days of silence.
Our local weather forecast indicates a week of days and nights not getting above freezing. (very unusual in TX)
lol yup they can’t stand it, and pretend that somehow President Trump got schooled😂
“Give me your lunch money or I will punch you”
“Here is my lunch money”
“Haha Trump didn’t punch me, I win “😎
Film actor’s guild members?😂
Which is why Trump had to negotiate hard for it. It’s fantasy to talk like Trump could have expanded the Golden Dome (using Greenland) with just a military order. The global leftists who made it too hard for Bush couldn’t stand up against a real leader like Trump.
You know that and I know that but there is a narrative that has to be maintained. Whether its stories about those frightened children in Greenland-scared the US military come and kill them or about how the spineless Euros stood up to the great colonizer DJT, the media has to gaslight about this trip (and everythimg else)… if they reported news and facts…. Democrats would never win another election ever. Every win is a loss somehow. Its only going to get worse as things improve exponentially.
Deserves a repeat——President Trump just ran the Art of the Deal to perfection once again and the feeble-minded barely noticed….some ludicrously said “Trump caved.” Here’s the actual Trump deal — and notice who pays (#1 and #5):
1) Denmark has to keep paying the population of Greenland $600 million per year.
2) USA gets sovereignty over whichever parts we want for US military bases
3) USA gets mineral rights
4) China and Russia aren’t allowed in Greenland
5) Cost $0.00
So essentially the same terms as the 1951 treaty?
WSJ, like all MSM doesn’t understand how Trump works and what the Art of the Deal is all about.
Once the deal begins to be correctly understood, the same retards that are saying he failed will soon be screaming, “It’s not faaaaiir! Donald gets the milk for free, but doesn’t have to buy the cow? “
But it is apparent that few in the media do - or pretend they don't to justify criticizing him.
Typically he opens negotiations by demanding the entire universe when all he really wants is a building lot in Rhode Island.
In this case he got what he wanted and left most of the parties involved thinking they got a good deal.
Yes, read his book!
It provides the insight into him, how he operates and makes one much more appreciative.
Glad he’s on our side!
