Court lifts restrictions on immigration officers' tactics in Minnesota

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — An appeals court on Wednesday suspended a decision that restricts immigration officers' aggressive tactics in Minnesota, while Maine declined a request for more undercover license plates for U.S. Customs and Border Protection vehicles, citing “abuses of power” during the Trump administration's crackdown.

The 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals was persuaded to freeze a judge's ruling that bars officers from using tear gas and other steps against peaceful protesters while the administration pursues an appeal. Operation Metro Surge, an immigration enforcement operation in Minnesota's Twin Cities, began in early December.

Border Patrol Commander Greg Bovino was denied service today at Speedway. A protester threw food at Bovino. 20-30 cars have been following Bovino’s convoy for roughly 2 hours.

I read earlier that ICE agents were able to take one target into custody by having off-duty police officers, friends, and family members mimic ICE agents and drive in a cluster down a street. Anti-ICE groups followed them. Meanwhile about 5 true agents quietly went to the house and took the person into custody with no interference. Smart thinking!

I have no problem with peaceful protesters. I just think we should let ICE decide who is being peaceful, and who is not. Here is what I personally think is not peaceful:

Threatening moves with vehicles
Blasting whistles or bullhorns into someone's ear
Blocking officers with their body or anything else
Getting into the officer's personal space
Throwing things
Uttering threats.

The minute they start any of those, I say Mace 'em. Mace 'em good.
