Trump Truths About UK's Giveaway Of Diego Garcia
Truth Social ^ | January 20, 2026 | Donald J. Trump

Donald J. Trump

@realDonaldTrump

Shockingly, our “brilliant” NATO Ally, the United Kingdom, is currently planning to give away the Island of Diego Garcia, the site of a vital U.S. Military Base, to Mauritius, and to do so FOR NO REASON WHATSOEVER. There is no doubt that China and Russia have noticed this act of total weakness. These are International Powers who only recognize STRENGTH, which is why the United States of America, under my leadership, is now, after only one year, respected like never before. The UK giving away extremely important land is an act of GREAT STUPIDITY, and is another in a very long line of National Security reasons why Greenland has to be acquired. Denmark and its European Allies have to DO THE RIGHT THING. Thank you for your attention to this matter. PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP

But they’re essentially giving the territory away for nothing, as I understand it, and to a country, Mauritius, that never even asked for it or wanted it. And some critics in the UK are pointing out that the inhabitants of the Chagos Islands weren’t even asked or consulted on the matter.

They are broke, OK. But so they must start **giving away** their family jewels, how does it even make any sense???
It’s even more stupid seing the outcomes of the Hong Kong giveaway.

“...and to do so FOR NO REASON WHATSOEVER.”

Actually, Trump does in fact know the reason, and it is to weaken the entire West, by further weakening England. England and the West have been marked for total destruction by the puppet masters.

In the Old Testament, God sometimes describes himself as the one who divides the nations. He did that to make them stronger.

Currently, immigration is touted as a source of stength for a nation, when the exactly the opposite is true. Daniel 2:40 describes a kingdom to arise in the future that has a fatal flaw for “mixing the seed of men” that results in a failure to cohere as a power.

In the old days, when one kingdom conquered another, the first thing that was done was to move populations around to ward off future challenges. Alexander the Great did that.

Today, national conquest is re-labeled as strength through diversity and if you disagree then you might be imprisoned by the ones who are doing the re-labeling.

Is there any chance this was the whole endgame Trump wanted in the first place by starting the Greenland argument? Getting the UK to retain Diego Garcia?

But they will control the base for the next 99 years - at least that’s what I read.

UK.

“The treaty provides for Mauritius to exercise full sovereignty over the Chagos Archipelago, with the UK exercising rights on Diego Garcia during an initial 99-year period. Over the 99 years, the UK will pay Mauritius a total of around £3.4 billion in 2025/26 prices. The UK Government says this resolves the long-standing BIOT sovereignty dispute and secures the military base for continued operations in the long term.”

Well played. And the U.S. should just take Diego Garcia, not recognize the handover.

The UK government argued that the military base was “under threat” due to international court decisions. The International Court of Justice (ICJ) ruled in 2019 that the UK’s occupation of the islands was illegal and that they must be returned to Mauritius. Continuing to hold the islands would have likely led to further binding legal judgments that could have disrupted base operations, such as satellite communications or contractor access.

Under the agreement signed in May 2025, Mauritius gains formal sovereignty over the archipelago, but the UK will lease back Diego Garcia for an initial period of 99 years. This allows the base to continue operating while resolving the sovereignty dispute.

The UK government stated that a clear legal agreement was necessary to prevent “malign influence” and ensure other powers (like China) could not establish a presence on the surrounding islands.

Btw, mbfrl, Mauritius has been talking about Diego Garcia for decades now.

Mauritius actively sought the return of the Chagos Islands for decades and considers the recent agreement a “great victory” for its national sovereignty. Mauritius took the dispute to the highest international bodies. This resulted in major victories at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in 2019 and the United Nations General Assembly, both of which ruled that the UK’s continued administration was a “wrongful act” and that the islands should be returned to Mauritius.

A primary motivation for Mauritius was the right to resettle the islands (excluding Diego Garcia), allowing the displaced Chagossian people to return to their ancestral homes.
