Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on Saturday said authorities “must break the back of the seditionists” and blamed US President Donald Trump for “casualties” after the Islamic Republic’s bloody crackdown on a protest wave against the country’s clerical authorities.
Iranian authorities have repeatedly blamed the US for the mass demonstrations they have called “riots” and “terrorist” operations. Trump had threatened to strike Iran if it did not stop killing protesters, but starting Wednesday sounded a more conciliatory tone, saying he was assured the killings would stop.
In a speech broadcast by state television to mark a religious holiday, Khamenei on Saturday said the protests had left “several thousand” people dead — the first indication from an Iranian leader of the extent of the casualties from the wave of protests that began December 28.
“In this revolt, the US president made remarks in person, encouraged seditious people to go ahead and said: ‘We do support you, we do support you militarily,'” said Khamenei.
“We do consider the US president a criminal, because of casualties and damages, because of accusations against the Iranian nation,” Khamenei said. He described the protesters as “foot soldiers” of the United States and said they had destroyed mosques and educational centers.
“This was an American conspiracy,” he said, adding that “America’s goal is to swallow Iran… the goal is to put Iran back under military, political and economic domination.”

You do know that other countries know what goes on here, I actually do not think the US goaded protestors there to do anything.
I have seem a lot of anti POTUS stuff here today because he doesn’t do what all the different factions and opinions want him to do when they want it.

That sounds almost exactly what it must be like for Iran’s citizens. Their “leaders” must be ever so self-righteous when they have no reason to be.

When Trump said “Help is on the way” and “Hold your ground,” some rightfully argue that these statements encouraged more Iranians to confront the Islamic regime and risk their lives. Critics now claim that Trump effectively sent them to their deaths by abandoning them, violating his own stated red line, much as Obama was accused of doing in Syria, a point Trump himself often mocked.
Well, Trump has not actually abandoned them. The United States is carrying out a significant military buildup in the region. A naval fleet with aircraft and submarines will be in the theater of operations within days.
What is unfortunate is that the timing of this buildup appears late relative to the uprising that began a few days earlier. That kind of timing, however, is notoriously difficult to align precisely.
Trump will attack Iran. You can take that to the bank. He has repeatedly defined a clear red line, and that line has been openly violated by the mullahs. Trump does not back down from red lines of his own making.
Remember just a few days back when air space was closed over Iran and everyone thought it was going to happen then, but did not? Well, it was actually a first phase, actually, when reactions were shown and leadership scrambled, all under the watchful eyes of our war fighters.
It will happen, and it will be grand and victorious, all while being swift, decisive, and with limited (pray for no) casualties to our fighters. In, out, home again with God Speed!
Trump is to blame for me killing my own people; that’s the logic of Muslim fanatics.
