COPENHAGEN, Denmark (AP) — President Donald Trump suggested Friday that he may punish countries with tariffs if they don’t back the U.S. controlling Greenland, a message that came as a Congressional delegation met Danish and Greenlandic lawmakers in Copenhagen and sought to lower tensions.

This is getting really peculiar.
Obviously, POTUS Trump is not at all worried about the forthcoming SCOTUS decision.
If Trump thinks the U.S. should control all islands in the Northeastern Atlantic, he should start negotiating with the French to buy Saint Pierre and Miquelon Islands located 13.7 miles off the coast of Newfoundland. You never know when the French will decide to reclaim New France in Quebec.
If Trump wanted the Rats to win bigly in November what would he be doing differently?
Well that won’t make friends and influence people.
Very cool. Learned something today. This website rocks.

Maybe Trump doesn’t care about that. Perhaps he’s thinking more long-term. He is planting the seeds now, that may very well not bear fruit, until he’s away from the political stage.
I think that quiet diplomacy with Denmark would have been better. Now we actually have NATO nations starting to plan against an American invasion. President Trump has made enemies that he didn’t need to make. Even though we are the world’s greatest superpower, if it ends up being us against the whole world, we will lose. Too much of this has been unnecessary.

Nicely phrased. I am a big proponent of tariffs, as they will help bring good jobs back to America. But using them as part of this Greenland spat… that’s a bridge too far.
And as Montgomery found out, when you go a bridge too far you risk the whole operation.
I agree. Is it too late for a charmed offense? He should woo Greenland and Denmark for their support.
As much as I love Trump, I really don’t agree with the way he is handling the Greenland situation.
Even of Trump did get control of Greenland in some manner, I can easily see the next Democrat president doing something similiar that Jimmy Carter did with the Panama Canal.
I am concerned that this is AP FAKE NEWS. Obviously Trump said something. I doubt this is accurate.
Is Trump going to be allowed to tariff every nation that might dare to disagree with him on issues? Congress never gave him that power.

I also had a concern about the source being AP. As we all know, the leftist media likes to insert their own bias into news reports. But it’s evidently a direct quote.
“I may do that for Greenland too,” Trump said. “I may put a tariff on countries if they don’t go along with Greenland, because we need Greenland for national security. So I may do that,” he said.
Trump positions—a lot.
#1- Why should we care if they disagree?
#2-What good does it do us to punish them with a tariff if they do?
