The president of Oglala Sioux Tribe in South Dakota on Tuesday called for the immediate release of tribal members who were detained at a homeless encampment by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents in Minnesota last week.
Three of the four Oglala Sioux Tribe members who were arrested in Minneapolis on Friday have been transferred to an ICE facility at Fort Snelling, President Frank Star Comes Out said in a statement released with a memorandum sent to federal immigration authorities.
“The Oglala Sioux Tribe’s memorandum makes clear that ‘tribal citizens are not aliens’ and are ‘categorically outside immigration jurisdiction,’” Star Comes Out said. “Enrolled tribal members are citizens of the United States by statute and citizens of the Oglala Sioux Nation by treaty.”
Details about the circumstances that led to their detention were uncl

I guess the Indians looked like Mexicans to ICE.
I say we deport ‘em!
Tribes are able to give tribal membership to anyone they choose to.
They are not free to give them U.S. citizenship.
AP playing them angles like Willie Moscone.
Were they interfering or impeding a federal law enforcement operation?
When they saw each other did they say
Hey how are you
Hey how are you
Hey how are you?
ICE made mistakes, it happens.
So…?!
Most of the Louisiana population can likely be deported too... They were original Acadians (Cajun’s) from the Maritimes of Canada... Deported to Louisiana by the British in the mid 18th century... A majority of them did vote for Trump, so maybe you should wait for a bit... Before telling them that they’re be expelled for a second time... Maybe they should be sent back to France.
No ID? Ok, wait in this cell while we figure out who you are.
And just how pure is your lineage? Your people all come over on the Mayflower?
Dear Sioux:
So what - Sioux us.
ICE
Oh good. Then I can be An Indian Too:
Anyone else remember Ethyl Merman in “Annie Get Your Gun”?
“’Like the Seminole, Navajo, Kickapoo
Like those Indians
I’m an Indian too
A Sioux
A Sioux
Just like Battle Axe, Hatchet Face, Eagle Nose
Like those Indians
I’m an Indian too
A Sioux
A Sioux
Some Indian summer’s day
Without a sound
I may hide away
With Big Chief Hole-in-the-Ground
And I’ll have totem poles, tomahawks, pipes of peace
Which will go to prove
I’m an Indian too
A Sioux
A Sioux
With my chief in his teepee
We’ll raise an Indian family
And I’ll be busy night and day
Looking like a flour sack
With two papooses on my back
And three papooses on the way
Like the Chippewa, Iroquois, Omaha
Like those Indians
I’m an Indian too
A Sioux
A Sioux
Just like Rising Moon, Falling Pants, Running Nose
Like those Indians
I’m an Indian too
A Sioux
A Sioux
Some Indian summer’s day
Without a care
I may run away
With Big Chief Son-of-a-Bear
And I’ll wear moccasins, wampum beads, feather hats
Which will go to prove
I’m an Indian too
A Sioux
A Sioux”
straight back to Siouxmalia the go
the = they
Well... Some of them did.
One of them was indentured Scot who was captured in the battle of Dunbar from the mid 17th century who married into the Mayflower gentry ,and then non potato famine Irish in the mid to late 18th century, along with Scots and Irish from the late 18th and early 19th century. My great grandfather came direct from Scotland in the latter 19th century. He was the ‘newest’ immigrant in my linage.
But the filmed version with Betty Hutton is dear to my heart. That's an Irving Berlin tune, by the way.
I suspect there is a lot missing from the story and body cam footage will be released.
There may be a lot missing from the story. I’m wondering if there were drugs involved. On our Canadian border there are a lot of drugs coming over the St. Lawrence. Guess who has the fastest speed boats.
