Greenland has thick ice. But President Trump is walking on thin ice here. His approach has been patently ridiculous. If he launches an attack on Greenland (which I really don’t think that he will) it would be the end of his Presidency. This whole thing has been bizarre.
Either we get Greenland or Russia/someone else does. This is a defense issue, in this day and age it’s just like Cuba in the 60’s or NATO on Russia’s border today, it’s a no go. It’s too valuable and vulnerable to be left alone. No
need for a war, we buy it.
Western Europe is almost entirely un-prepared to defend itself against the Russian invaders.
President Trump is “needling” the EU to pay attention to THEIR NEGLECT.
Greenland’s thick ice would be perfect for data centers for all of North America. A total natural cooling environment. Donald offer everyone a dollar amount plus every family a free snowmobile. Let the Danes top that.Deal done!
Yup. It’s a geopolitical move. Trump is a little bit more up front and agressive in his posturing, but this is something another strong president like Reagan would of considered and done through back channels and quiet diplomacy.
Interestingly, though, it's curious to recall the British pulled a similar stunt with Iceland in 1940. The Brits seized control of Iceland, even though the Icelanders had said "NO" to the offer of British "protection" from a Nazi invasion (lol). Though Iceland was an independent country, the King of Denmark was also Iceland's king at the time.
A NATO country can’t attack a NATO country.
And America has already signed an agreement with Denmark in 1951, which gives America full access to build military installations and bases also over Greenland.
So there is no problem at all.
The problem was solved in 1951 already!
Therefore Trump will never attack Greenland.
He will only attempt legal negotiations, maybe to get an even better deal.
Also, Trump is a conservative, he supports Law and Order.
Stealing others stuff is delinquency and is not something Trump would do. Even though Democrats are secretly praying for him to attack Greenland... knowing it would weaken him beyond no return.
If anything he is under agressive. The first step is establishing the premise that Denmark is for sale. You don't do that by being a nice guy and being 'diplomatic'.
Denmark meaning Greenland.
It’s so damn embarrassing,
We’re an anarco-syndicalist commune. We take it in turns to act as sort-of-executive for the week.
Nah.
What’s abjectly embarrassing...
Having fellow countrymen and women foolish enough to still believe our republic has any allies among the governments of Western Europe.
He’s like a dog with a bone on this issue. We already have carte blanc there as far as defense bases so why the need to stir sh..? The guy is getting scary and he’s all that stands between us and the Democrats.
Six or so weeks of carpet bombing Nuuk will bring them to their senses.
Yes...see if an agreement can be made. But talk of invasion is absolutely bat$hit crazy!
Meanwhile, the Germans are, reportedly, sending in some Bundeswehr...
