Summary
More anti-government protests erupt in Iran for a 13th day in a row, as the country's supreme leader lashes out at people demonstrating on the streets
Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who has ultimate power in Iran, dismisses protesters as "a bunch of vandals" trying to "please" US President Donald Trump, who threatened to "hit" Iran "very hard" if government forces kill protesters
The protests, which began in Tehran on 28 December, were sparked by the collapse of the Iranian currency - BBC Verify is mapping their spread
"People are becoming bolder now," one 29-year-old tells the BBC: "I went to buy some groceries and people were speaking out loud against the regime in the daylight!"
Meanwhile, a nationwide internet blackout is seemingly still in place, with some Iranians abroad saying they've been unable to contact their families
The BBC and most other international news organisations are barred from reporting inside Iran, so social media is relied upon to verify what is happening on the ground

Trump’s fault. Lol
Trump drives so many people up the wall. Thing is, they’re all people the world could do without.
I wonder how many of our friends” and “allies” in the EU and the Middle East are working hard to preserve the present leadership in Iran?
A basket of deplorables? /sarcasm
Khamenei sorely misses the pallets of hard currency that Obama/Biden regularly delivered. His head bashing thugs demand to be paid with hard currency to do their work. No hard cash means no hard suppression. Right about now the security forces are getting queasy. They know that they themselves will soon be targets . For a while they will fight even harder. If Pavlevi were smart he would give them a way to safely surrender. If they are neutralized, Khamenei will soon be on a plane to Moscow.
Supreme Leader and his buddies need the Nicolae Ceaușescu treatment
47 living rent free
If the situation weren’t so tragic, this would be funny. Trump lives rent-free in literally everyone’s head. Whether its some lunatic Dem officeholder or a Shia ayatollah dictator of Iran.
I really hope these protestors can move it to the next level. They need weapons and organization. The mullahs are bringing foreign militias in to slaughter the protestors. If they remain peaceful and disorganized, they are going to be killed and the protests will be shut down.
How can the BBC have a live link if western media are not allowed in?
OTOH Al Jazeera is allowed in.

Trump will become the new Supreme Leader of Iran after he’s done being president
I *REALLY* hope this time is different and they’re successful at casting out the bastards in power. A free Iran would do SO much for the world. No more Hezbollah support for their attacks on Israel. No more support for Hamas, so they’d either collapse, or be overrun.
But I’ll ask again. The MIC NEEDS an enemy to justify their existence. If Iran goes away does it pivot to “Russia, Russia, Russia” all the time? Or do they somehow prod “Rocket Man” to start acting up again?
Trump will become the new Supreme Leader of Iran after he’s done being president
No that will be Marco Rubio.
I thought it was a musical group.
Mullah and the Vandalas?
I thought it was Shrillary's speech writer.
“Ayatollah Ali Khamenei (D- Tehran)”
We need an updated meme of Rubio with him wearing a turban and a big white beard. “Marco realizes he will have to be the ayatollah of Iran, Dictator of Venezuela, Governor of Minnesota.....”
And Dolphins head coach.
I think the videos shown on BBC was from yesterday. According to Tousi people have started to come out on the streets again during the last half hour.
