ICE detained a man who has been living in the U.S. since he was a baby, remanding him into federal custody after a routine appointment with immigration officials.
Chong Leng Vue, 45, was brought to the U.S. as a baby from a refugee camp in Thailand. His family was one of many that fled Laos during the Secret War and was granted asylum in the U.S.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) told the outlet that Chong Leng Vue was convicted of three counts of assault, two firearm-related felonies and concealing and receiving a firearm. An immigration judge had ordered his removal in February 2004, DHS said.
Tricia McLaughlin, a spokesperson for DHS, told Newsweek, "Under President Trump and Secretary Noem, if you break the law, you will face the consequences."

No, because he effed up in his 20’s with criminal behavior and convictions for which he was ordered deported in 2006 that forclosed all avenues of citizenship.

WHy did the man leave to go to an appointment if his family was suffering? Shouldn’t he have stayed with them?
His criminal misconduct would likely have barred him from citizenship.
