• Commitment comes at 'coalition of willing' gathering
• Security protocols 'as strong as anyone has ever seen,' Witkoff says
• Guarantees would enter into force after ceasefire
• Question mark hangs over Russian response
The United States for the first time on Tuesday backed a broad coalition of Ukraine's allies vowing to provide security guarantees that leaders said would include binding commitments to support the country if Russia attacks again.
The pledge came at a summit in Paris of the "coalition of the willing" of mainly European nations to firm up guarantees to reassure Kyiv in the event of a ceasefire with Russia, which INVADED in 2014 and again at full scale in 2022.
Unlike previous coalition meetings, the summit was also attended by U.S. envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner - President Donald Trump's son-in-law - as well as America's top general in Europe, Alexus Grynkewich, who a day earlier fleshed out details of security guarantees with European army chiefs.
Witkoff, who has led talks with Russia, said after the summit that Trump "strongly stands behind security protocols".
"Those security protocols are meant to ... deter any attacks, any further attacks in Ukraine, and ... if there are any attacks, they're meant to defend, and they will do both. They are as strong as anyone has ever seen," he said at a joint news conference with French, German, British and Ukrainian leaders.
Kushner said that if Ukrainians make a final deal "they have to know that after a deal they are secure, they have, obviously, a robust deterrence, and there's real backstops to make sure that this will not happen again."
A statement by coalition leaders said that allies will participate in a proposed U.S.-led ceasefire monitoring and verification: to involve drones, sensors and satellites, not U.S. troops.

‘Coalition of the Willing’ Ukraine Allies Meet in Paris For Talks

“Addressing the agreement, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky wrote on X: “Military officials from France, the United Kingdom, and Ukraine worked in detail on force deployment, numbers, specific types of weapons, and the components of the Armed Forces required and able to operate effectively. We already have these necessary details. We understand which country is ready for what among all members of the Coalition of the Willing. I would like to thank every leader and every state that truly wishes to be part of a peaceful solution.
“We had very substantive discussions with the American side on monitoring — to ensure there are no violations of peace. The United States is ready to work on this. One of the most critical elements is deterrence — the tools that will prevent any new Russian aggression. We see all of this.”
U.S. Ambassador to NATO Matt Whitaker told Fox News that the security guarantees were a “great development” and that it would enable President Zelensky to enter into the final phase of negotiations with Russia to end the nearly four-year war.
“We could be on the cusp of a peace deal. And so, you know, while we continue to pray for peace, we’re also doing all the hard work to make sure we can sustain that peace, which would certainly be remarkable news,” Whitaker said.”
EXCERPT
Back the security measures, ok, but he better NOT commit our troops to the effort. It’s not our war.
* NOTE ARTICLE POSTED:
“A statement by coalition leaders said that allies will participate in a proposed U.S.-led ceasefire monitoring and verification: to involve drones, sensors and satellites, not U.S. troops.”
This is irrelevant, because I’ve been told that Russia is a peace-loving nation that wouldn’t invade a neighboring country, unless the other nation called them a nasty name or something.
.
Ukraine, the United States, and members of the “Coalition of the Willing” have agreed on a framework of security guarantees aimed at ensuring Ukraine’s defense and a lasting peace, following a summit in Paris on 6 January.
The Paris Declaration marks the most comprehensive security agreement for Ukraine to date, combining multilateral military support with legally binding commitments. Its effectiveness, however, depends on a ceasefire being established - a step Moscow has so far refused to take.

Russia will never agree to NATO troops in Ukraine. NATO expansion is the reason there is a war.
“I’ve been told that Russia is a peace-loving nation that wouldn’t invade a neighboring country”
Putin is not greater than God.
Please pray for God ‘s intervention to end Putin’s invasion.
So they all got together to come up with an agreement that they liked... with no consultations with the other side.
They really seem to feel self-satisfied to have worked it all out. Sure, there were a few sicky points, but we’ve worked through them. Now, all we need to do now is get those terrible Russians to sign off on this, and we’ll call it a success.
They are desperate to end the fighting before it becomes obvious to all that Ukraine/NATO is losing. At the first hint of an agreement they want to run to the nearest microphone and proclaim “WE WON!!!”
Unfortunately, the Russians have their own requirements for ending the fighting and they are nothing like the the Ukraine/NATO plan.

PARIS (AP) — Ukraine’s allies said they made major progress Tuesday toward agreeing on how to defend the country if a peace deal is struck with Russia, saying they were ready to provide international guarantees to deter Moscow from attacking its neighbor again.
Plans discussed at a key meeting in Paris included having the U.S. lead an effort to monitor any ceasefire — which could give Washington a direct role in keeping any peace with Russia.
Leaders from 27 European countries and Canada, as well as U.S. representatives and top officials from the European Union and NATO, said they would provide Kyiv’s front-line forces with equipment and training and back them up with air, land and sea support to deter any future Russian attack. “ - Excerpt

So they came up with a plan.
The parties are still talking two different languages.
These pronouncements ascertain there will not be a ceasefire.
Ooooooh, what a quandary. We are either power mad imperialistic dogs savagely planning to invade and conquer Greenland turning peaceful NATO and the EU into resolute defenders by declaring war on us. Or, we are Captain America, bravely facing the evil empire of Russia. Standing up to protect Ukraine, NATO, the entire EU, and freedom loving people wherever they are. Pledging our nation to be the rock of all that is good and decent as we have shown all around the world since 1941 with our lives, our treasure, and sacred honor.
Oh, which side is it. What a quandary indeed. (you know the domestic and international Marxists will get it wrong)
“Russia will never agree to NATO troops in Ukraine. NATO expansion is the reason there is a war.”
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>><
There was no NATO expansion into Ukraine. Ukraine has never been a NATO member.
The war exists precisely because Ukraine was outside NATO, not because it was inside it. NATO is a defensive alliance. Countries under its umbrella don’t get invaded because the cost would be prohibitive for the attacker.
Russia attacked Ukraine because it could and for imperialistic reasons, not because NATO forced its hand. If Ukraine had been a NATO member, this war would not be happening. There would be no invasion, no mass deaths, no destroyed cities. Deterrence works.
Blaming NATO expansion for this war confuses excuse with cause. The cause is Russia’s decision to invade a sovereign country that lacked collective defense.
Security guarantees-in Europe? Like the Russians can believed? I couldn’t want to be a Polak in Poland.
Ukraine will cease existing before that happens.
It's absolute waste of time making a promise like this.
How about us and the EU?
We promised the Russians eastward expansion of NATO and expanded to NATO to its borders.
François Hollande and Angela Merkel both admitted that their countries encouraged Ukraine to sign the Minsk Accord and break it so it would buy Ukraine time to build up its military for an offensive on Donetsk and Lugansk.
Those of your with Russian Derangement Syndrome have us closer to WW III and nuclear war than we ever were during the Cold War. You're sociopathic plaque on humanity.
