If some IRGC and Basij militia bases were taken by the protesters, does that mean the protesters are now armed? That would be a game changer.
If the army stays in the barracks this will be another slaughter of the innocent. They’re the only ones with enough guns.
As soon as Israel’s next attack, they’ll all pull together just like during the 12 day war.
Of course that will start Armageddon.
The last few days put me in mind of New Years 1959 listening on the radio to the fall of Cuba to the Communists. I’m hoping for a reversal of fortune in this new year.

When you see words like Massive and phrases about bases being overrun — in cities that are not Teheran, it’s usually a good idea to just move on.
The war in Ukraine has started the process of trying to define circumstance with loud enough media talk. There is no talk of Shiite overthrow in Al Jazeera or the Indian media, which has gotten to the point where it is the only thing reasonable for Middle East events.
We’ve heard all this before, since 1980.
That the Mullah Regime is about to fall.
Maybe it will, one day.
The Netanyahu Regime wants it. But it also wants the USA to fight a war against Iran.
The problem is that every time Iran is attacked, there is a rally to the flag effect, and the protests stop.

She DOES bring up an interesting point that I hadn’t considered. Let’s say Iran DOES fall, and the new government is a democratically elected pro-west, tolerant of Israel one.
The west NEEDS an enemy to justify defense spending, so does it then pivot to Russia 24/7? Maybe North Korea will launch a missile that doesn’t fall apart and step back into the “Most hated nation” spotlight?

As an Iranian 12erShia, Mamdani is driven to see not just Israel destroyed, but all of humanity.
Fifty years ago Iran was a fairly pro-Western nation. But that is now ancient history and it remains to be seen whether there is sufficient desire to remove the mullahs and re-join civilization.
My hope is Trump won’t 2009 Obama those people.
When the mullahs start booking tickets to go visit their money in Switzerland you’ll know the jig is up.
