President Donald Trump issued the first vetoes of his second term Tuesday, blocking two bipartisan, infrastructure-related bills.
The president argued that blocking both measures was necessary to save taxpayer dollars.
“Enough is enough. My Administration is committed to preventing American taxpayers from funding expensive and unreliable policies. Ending the massive cost of taxpayer handouts and restoring fiscal sanity is vital to economic growth and the fiscal health of the Nation,” Trump said in a message to Congress, explaining his veto of one of the bills, H.R. 131, which aims to lower the payments certain communities in Colorado make for the construction of a water pipeline.
The other bill vetoed, H.R. 504, would expand the land reserved for the Miccosukee Tribe in Florida and instruct the Department of Interior to work with the tribe to mitigate flooding in the added area.
Congress can override the president’s veto by passing the bill again with a two-thirds majority in both chambers.
Trump’s veto of H.R. 131 in particular drew criticism with one lawmaker accusing the president of retaliation.
Democratic Sen. Michael Bennet of Colorado said in a post on X, “This isn’t governing. It’s a revenge tour. It’s unacceptable.”

Pay for it yourself states.
Screw you politicians. Money grabbing grifters.
Why did I have to pay for a fast train not built in CA? A big hole in Boston MA?
Helping the Miccusukee Indians mitigate flooding on their lands? Its the Everglades! Its a giant swamp! 🙄

Well, yeah it is right here in the Constitution:
Location: Article I, Section 7 outlines the process by which the President can veto legislation passed by Congress. This section details the steps involved when a bill is presented to the President, including the options available to the President: to sign the bill into law, to veto it, or to take no action, which can lead to a pocket veto if Congress adjourns.
H.R. 131 needed veto. Why should I pay, so “certain communities in Colorado” pay less for construction?
“Why did I have to pay for a fast train not built in CA? A big hole in Boston MA?”
Why are my dollars going to pay for your electricity?
Beats me. TVA is almost 100. Should have been privatized decades ago.
Covers 7 states.
But I pay for my electricity. Not at lower rates than FLA I bet.
Guess Trump didn’t like being served pork .... buy your own pork Colorado and Florida.
here is the Florida bill, it is just a small land transfer, no money allocated. Seems petty to veto. It does nothing to help with the debt or spending.

IT’S A BAD BILL!!! Congress should STOP sending this crap to the POTUS and START passing bills that STOP CORRUPTION and ELIMINATE WASTEFUL SPENDING.
Federal Money should only play for Federal projects.
It seems that our “Republican” Colorado Representatives are all just trying to grab as much pork as they can for their districts. That crap has to change if America is to survive. That makes them little better than democrats. This is the time to actually present substantive legislation, maybe a budget, pass good election laws and codify some of the great Executive Orders so they don’t just evaporate as soon as a Democrat is elected, not just more of the same crap.
i totally agree all states should pay for their stuff, i want to cut off 25 poorest states from the spigot, let’s start with Mississippi, West Virginia, Louisiana, Arkansas, and Kentucky the bottom of barrel and work our way up.
Wel,, hey...it was a nice hole in Boston...
Colorado liberals: “Why should we pay for our own stuff???”
PAYBACK IS A LOVELY WORD
Why do I have to subsidize through my taxes Obamacare users?
Why should taxpayers in 49 states that are not Colorado pay for a water pipe in Colorado?
