NC to officially recognize sex as male and female this week
CBS 17 ^ | December 29, 2025 | Deana Harley

Starting this week, sex in North Carolina will be defined only as male and female. It’s part of a law that’s already in effect, but this specific provision goes into effect on Thursday, with the start of the new year.

The provision in House Bill 805 defines sex as only male and female and says those definitions should be based on biological sex, not gender ideology. The bill says gender identity “Shall not be treated as legally or biologically equivalent to sex.”

While on the floor in July, the bill was debated heavily.

Democrats originally supported the bill as it was intended to protect women and minors from sexual exploitation online, but once Republicans added the provision to define gender, Democrats urged them to reverse course and create a separate bill to do so.

“We would have loved to salvage the original bill and we tried almost a dozen times to do that, we tried in committee, we tried multiple times on the floor, we tried with amendments, we tried with our protest votes, we gave Republicans every single opportunity to do the right thing,” Democratic Senator Sophia Chitlik said at the time.

Governor Josh Stein vetoed the bill in July. He said the bill was divisive and “Stoking culture wars.”

In a sit down interview with the Governor this month, he said the General Assembly spent too long on divisive topics like this.

“They don’t advance the state, they just serve to put us in separate corners, we need to come together because there are real problems we need to address on a bipartisan basis,” Governor Stein said.

See if the usual suspects, denounce North Carolina as a medieval state, full of Neanderthals, and claiming they feel unsafe in that state, so will boycott and recommend against travel to the state.

No, it is the wake left that is stroking culture wars with their insanity. This is just pushing back and restoring normalcy.

Governor Josh Stein vetoed the bill in July.

Which is it, it goes in effect or it was vetoed?

thx, 2nd to last sentence. The last sentence is also nice. I didn’t realize the GOP had enough to over-ride a veto.

2025 Major League Baseball All-Star Game

Truist Park was originally scheduled to host the 2021 game before it was moved to Denver amid protests against the Election Integrity Act of 2021, at the recommendation of Georgia's two Senators and Atlanta city leadership (all of which represent Fulton County; the Braves moved in 2017 from Fulton to Cobb County). At the time of Atlanta's selection as hosts of the 2025 game, the law was still in effect.

People don't care. Even woke corporations are noticing.

Jeff Bezos, Mark Zuckerberg, etc.

As idiotic as declaring that water is wet.

But I appreciate the sentiment.

Praise God!

Now get the criminals off your streets and trains, North Carolina, so that another Iryna Zarutska doesn’t happen.

It was former Gov. Cooper who knocked NC’s constitution on human sexuality off in court with Washington DC city-state judges.

there are real problems we need to address

Like men in girl's locker rooms, men in women's prison, moron. The COURTS created this chaos, needlessly for ideological reasons. You do not want to address this issue because it is an 80-20 issue and YOU ARE ON THE WRONG SIDE.
