Why does the West keep misreading Hamas — even after October 7?
In this in-depth interview, Dr. Mordechai Kedar, one of the world’s leading experts on the Arab world and Islamist ideology, explains why Hamas is not a nationalist movement, not fighting over borders, and not seeking coexistence with Israel.
Drawing on decades of experience in Israeli military intelligence and firsthand debates on Arab television, Dr. Kedar exposes the religious and ideological foundations driving Hamas, Hezbollah, Iran, and the broader Islamist movement — foundations that Western leaders, media, and institutions continue to ignore.

Aside from that the professor is also very informative and well-spoken.
Mohammed was a Warlord who personally slaughtered those who would not submit.
The west isn’t misreading Hamas. They are siding with Hamas, and Iran, and jihad for that matter.
It was just the “progressive left”. Now increasingly it includes a few supposed conservatives. They have opened their borders to people who hate them and hate everything they once stood for, because they themselves have lost faith.
As “western civ” abandons the Christian underpinnings of its civilization, they are losing everything. Israel is collateral damage.
You mean they’re not progressive victims of colonialism who believe in trans rights?
not seeking coexistence with Israel.
Israel is not seeking coexistence with any neighboring countries either.
Islam is always and everywhere a political movement, even more than it is a religious one. Even less so is Islam a “spiritual” philosophy.
That is why in EVERY muslim land, Islam is highly regulated and controlled by political authorities. Exactly WHO is able to preach and interpret Islamic texts is always highly regulated.
The fundamental problem with Islam in the west is that it is uncontrolled. The most radical, extreme or fringe elements are allowed to grow unchecked, like weeds. This was explained clearly in 2017, by Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE’s Minister of Foreign Affairs. He warned Europe about the risks of political correctness and inaction on extremism, saying:”There will come a day that we will see far more radical extremists and terrorists coming out of Europe because of lack of decision-making, trying to be politically correct...”
Therefore, IF Islam is allowed to stay in the West, it would also need to be controlled tightly by Government. This is obviously a fundamental contradiction with Western notions of religious liberty, which is why Islam should not be allowed to exist in the West.
What if I had been told the truth about Hamas because I was told by people who knew the truth?
It comes down to power.
Personally, I need no one to “tell” me about what Hamas is.
I judge them on their actions. And that is all I need to judge them on.
Unfortunately, there are many Westerners (including a great number of Americans) who depend on what others “tell” them. They would benefit from this presentation, were they wise enough to watch it with an open mind. That is a tall order, obviously.
I have not watched the video, but looking at the index you provided, I would no doubt be in full agreement already.
How do you co-exist with neighbors who openly seek your extermination?
Israel is not seeking coexistence with any neighboring countries either.“
That’s ridiculous.
Abortion lovers like Biden and Pelosi are to Catholicism as HAMAS is to Islam.
Lip service are the two words that come to mind.
“Israel is not seeking coexistence with any neighboring countries either.”
False.
Grok:
“agreements—ranging from full peace treaties ending states of war to normalization agreements establishing diplomatic relations—with the following Muslim-majority countries:
• Egypt: The Egypt–Israel Peace Treaty, signed on March 26, 1979, following the Camp David Accords. This was the first peace treaty between Israel and an Arab/Muslim country, involving Israel’s withdrawal from the Sinai Peninsula in exchange for peace, diplomatic recognition, and normalized relations.
• Jordan: The Israel–Jordan Peace Treaty, signed on October 26, 1994 (also known as the Wadi Araba Treaty). It ended the state of war dating to 1948, resolved border and water disputes, and established full diplomatic ties.
• United Arab Emirates (UAE): The Abraham Accords Peace Agreement: Treaty of Peace, Diplomatic Relations and Full Normalization Between the State of Israel and the United Arab Emirates, signed on September 15, 2020. This established full diplomatic relations, embassies, and cooperation in trade, technology, and security.
• Bahrain: The Abraham Accords: Declaration of Peace, Cooperation, and Constructive Diplomatic and Friendly Relations between Israel and Bahrain, signed on September 15, 2020 (with the full agreement formalized in October 2020). It normalized diplomatic ties and opened embassies.
• Morocco: The Abraham Accords agreement joining Israel, Morocco, and the United States, announced in December 2020 and formalized thereafter. This restored and upgraded diplomatic relations (which had existed intermittently before), including mutual recognition of sovereignty claims (U.S. and Israel recognizing Moroccan control over Western Sahara) and full normalization.”
Moral Equivalency Man strikes again! We’ve been coexisting lately with Jordan and Egypt quite well, thank you. We coexisted nicely with Turkey for half a century, until Erdogan came to power. Until the Ayatollah came to power, we had diplomatic relations with Iran, and El Al even had an office in Tehran. Lebanon used to be the Paris of the Middle East, until the PLO was booted out of Jordan for trying to depose the king one too many times, and invaded Beirut, and then Syria invaded Lebanon, and Hizbollah began lobbing missiles into Israel for a few decades.
Hamas is to Islam more like opponents of Vatican II are to Catholicism.
unfortunately, the “West” (or at least some politicians and media types therein) does NOT suffer from a lack of appreciation or understanding of the Fakestinian terrorists.
they appreciate and outright support them
Personally, I don’t give a crap what it supposedly is. I KNOW the anything affiliated with Islam is an evil cult. That is all I need to know. It is vile and evil. Full stop.
