Putin Calls Out European Interference in US Elections
TASS ^ | 2/19/25

The Russian leader explained that the relationship between Donald Trump and European elites backing Democrats was not surprising

MOSCOW, December 19. /TASS/. European political elites aligned with Democrats directly meddled in the US elections, Russian President Vladimir Putin said during the combined Direct Line Q&A session and year-end press conference headlined "Results of the Year."

"Donald Trump was once accused of Russia interfering in the elections, but it was not confirmed. All Congress investigations were fruitless, there was no Russian interference. By contrast, European political elites did interfere, and they did so directly. It was completely obvious, visible, and unabashed," Putin said.

The Russian leader explained that the relationship between Donald Trump and European elites backing Democrats is not surprising.

"Regarding conflicts with the US president, there is no surprise here, nothing unexpected, what’s so surprising about it? It is clear to me. I think any observer, even a non-expert, can see it — European political elites supported the Democratic Party and Ms. [Kamala] Harris in the US presidential election," he added, noting that they did so "quite straightforwardly, if not boldly.".

He’s right, and that’s yet another reason we should leave NATO.

Euro Tyrants deserve no American blood.

I don’t like Vlad the Invader......

But when he tells it like it is, it’s hard to argue with him. It’s been the Euro Tyrants, NOT RUSSIA, that have been messing with the American people.

I have never met anyone from Western Europe who doesn’t favor Democrats. They are quite monolithic in this regard. Sure there are a few on Twitter/X but they are exceptions.

Usually I don’t believe Putin and his evil ways. But on this issue I don’t doubt him. Now European elites can deal with Zelensky and Putin on their own, and they will have to buy weapons from the U.S. to facilitate the war or Putin’s Russia will just mow them all down eventually.

I suspect that many Western Europeans who disagree with the regimes in power tend to keep their mouths shut. Think Hungary or Poland circa 1970. The upper middle income and better classes tend to support the regimes in power, much as Communist Party members did.

I think Trump is giving Putin Ukraine. He is doing that by his inaction in the war. The reason is that the both Trump and Putin have a common enemy: Democrats & neocons. Trump was spied on by Obama, had the CIA and FBI turn him, accused of being Russian spy with Russiagate, was impeached twice, had the 2020 election stolen from him, accused of the Jan 6 Insurrection, had Mar-a-Lago rampaged by the FBI, had criminal tax charges levied against him... and had two assassination attempts on him. That will do something to a person.

Given Christopher Steele (of the infamous “dossier”) was an MI6 agent, I believe Putin on this one.

The Brits are still trying to control and manipulate their lost colony.

“ inaction in the war”?

Exactly how much more escalation against Russia do you ( and Trump voters) want to see? Throwing more US money past the hundreds of billions already spent and the million+ lives destroyed in 3 years?

Trump is a realist. The Russian move to reclaim control of their historic lands as a buffer against NATO expansion is existential to Russia. Is it worth American troops on the ground or expanding strategic weapon attacks at the risk of retaliation…worth it to your life? Be real.

Dont play Germany UK Poland or France and try to convince people the Russians are coming to overrun and enslave them in communism. Jingoism by the very elites importing the 3d world into Europe to overrun and enslave the native Europeans into supporting massive welfare states of unassimilated ideological and cultural hostiles and congratulating themselves for their enlightened globalism. And sneering at Trump and Vance for calling them on it.

“In before somebody says Putin is Hitler.”

AI Overview

The query refers to the use of “Nazi” accusations as propaganda in relation to Vladimir Putin and the Ukraine war, as well as the actual presence and weaponization of far-right groups in both Russia and Ukraine.

Putin’s Accusations Against Ukraine

A central “problem” is that Putin has used a false narrative of “de-Nazification” to justify his invasion of Ukraine.

Propaganda Tactic:

Putin and Russian state media frequently and falsely portray the Ukrainian government and society as “Nazis” to delegitimize Ukraine’s sovereignty and galvanize domestic support for the war by evoking Russia’s historical victory over Nazi Germany in World War II.

Factually Baseless:

These claims are widely regarded by international experts and historians as disinformation. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is Jewish, and several of his relatives were killed in the Holocaust.

Distortion of History:

Putin has engaged in historical revisionism, attempting to absolve the Soviet Union of blame for its collaboration with Nazi Germany under the Molotov-Ribbentrop pact and signing laws that ban comparisons between the USSR and Nazi Germany.
The Presence of Far-Right Groups

While far-right and neo-Nazi groups exist in both countries, experts state that Russia has a more significant and state-cultivated problem with extremism.

In Ukraine:

Ukraine does have far-right movements, notably the Azov Battalion, which was incorporated into the National Guard. However, experts note that such groups represent a very small percentage of the population and political power (receiving only 2% of the vote in the 2019 parliamentary elections), far less than in many other Western countries.
In Russia: The Putin regime has a long history of tolerating, cultivating, and utilizing domestic neo-Nazi and far-right groups for its own political purposes, such as intimidating the opposition and promoting “managed nationalism”. Some members of these groups have been integrated into Russian propaganda institutions.

International Support:

Putin’s expansionist policies have been applauded and supported by various international neo-fascist and far-Right political parties and figures across Europe and the United States.

In essence, the primary “problem” is the hypocritical weaponization of “Nazi” rhetoric by Putin to justify his war, while simultaneously fostering actual extremist elements within Russia and leveraging international far-right support. Many analysts argue that Russia itself is undergoing a process of “Nazification” due to the regime’s embrace of nationalism, militarism, expansionism, and the dismantling of democratic institutions.

You have a point

We should rely on New York Times, the Washington Post, every US military expert that won a war since 1945, and every US politician and think tank funded by the defense industry.

AI Overview

Corruption is an integral and systemic component of the Russian governance model under Vladimir Putin’s leadership, widely characterized as a kleptocracy. This system uses corruption to consolidate political control domestically and project influence abroad.

Key Aspects of Putin’s Corruption System

Systemic and Centralized: Corruption in Russia is not a side effect but a deliberate governing mechanism where loyalty to the regime is prioritized over competence. Formal institutions exist largely to support a vast system of “rent extraction” (siphoning off state wealth).

Personal Enrichment: Putin’s long-time friends, family members, and associates, often from his KGB past, have been placed in charge of state-owned companies (such as Gazprom) and have amassed immense wealth through state contracts and the takeover of state property.

Lack of Rule of Law: The system depends on keeping officials in a state of “permanent legal jeopardy,” where anti-corruption laws are selectively enforced to punish disloyalty, rather than eliminate corruption itself.
Suppression of Opposition: Anti-corruption activists and independent journalists, such as the late Alexei Navalny and his Anti-Corruption Foundation (FBK), have faced severe repression, legal challenges, and imprisonment for exposing high-level graft.

International Standing: Russia consistently ranks among the most corrupt countries globally. In the 2024 Corruption Perceptions Index by Transparency International, Russia scored 22 out of 100 and ranked 154th out of 180 countries, its worst result since the current scoring system was introduced.

Impact of the Ukraine War: The war in Ukraine has intensified corruption, creating new opportunities for bribery (e.g., to evade military service) and the state seizure of private assets, while military spending provides avenues for large-scale embezzlement.

Russian state TV host Vladimir Solovyov added to fears that a larger war will break out in Europe when he took to the airwaves on Tuesday and listed multiple countries Russia should “destroy” and “liberate.”

“Once again, we will have to destroy Berlin, and enter this godforsaken city,” Solovyov said. “Once again, we will have to enter Paris. Once again, we will have to liberate Vienna. Well, perhaps the Austrians will reconsider. It doesn’t mean that we want this. But one of the principles postulated by our supreme commander-in-chief is when we are forced to act, then we act.”
