US close to strongest ever Ukraine security guarantees in Russia peace deal that won’t ‘be on the table forever’: officials

President Trump and senior US officials said Monday they’re closing in on a sweeping peace framework to end the war in Ukraine — featuring “Article Five-like” security guarantees, a multibillion-dollar rebuilding plan, progress on tough territorial disputes, and a possible 50/50 split of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant — but Kyiv has added that many key details remain unknown.

The goal, officials said, is to create a package that stops Russia from pushing further into Ukraine and gives Kyiv the strongest-ever shield against future aggression — with Trump touting the negotiations as being “closer now than ever.”

The proposed NATO-style guarantees would include conflict monitoring, verification and enforcement mechanisms to prevent Russia from re-invading Ukraine.

There is no reason why the EU can’t give the Ukraine as the “guaranties” it needs.

Time for the US to bow out completely.

Bingo, and get out of NATO. How much longer will the US shed blood for those unwilling to shed their own?

“There is no reason why the EU can’t give the Ukraine as the “guaranties” it needs. Time for the US to bow out completely.”

This GARBAGE doesn’t bother me as Putin will effectively bail out Trump by not accepting the deal, as the conditions on Russia would leave Putin hanging by his toenails if he even considered accept the terms (of surrender) being offered to him.

All that’s going on here is a little game where Zelsensky eventually accepts and then Putin is blamed for scuttling a deal that he never came close to accepting.

And in the end, just like Trump’s first term with Russiagate, the Democrats and Neocons team up to make Trump look like a fool.

Security guarantees have more to do sucking America into a land war in Ukraine than they have to do with keeping Russia out of Ukraine

Should be fairy easy to create a false flag event to drag us into a war with Russia. Maybe the CIA will help.

I am still waiting for the extra sanctions on Russianthat PDJT promised last July/August.

I guess those are not part of any future with Russia.

“The proposed NATO-style guarantees would include conflict monitoring, verification and enforcement mechanisms to prevent Russia from re-invading Ukraine.”

If this is a US commitment to use our military forces to guarantee Ukrainian security, it is a major political error by POTUS. And a major strategic error for US security.

The American people will never support that.

“The American people will never support that.’

Never get ratified by the Senate. President Trump, don’t do it. It’s a trap.

The Russians will not move. They have already endured heavy sanctions. Sanctions will not work with them.

Russia will 100% reject this. It’s a waste of time.

I think you are right. In fact, I thought you were right several months ago when the extra sanctions were threatened. I wondered at the time why a threat would be made if not bluffing. Trump’s bluff has not worked and sanctions should be ratcheted up to save face. So much for “Art of the Deal.”

P.S. First rule of negotiating is to never make a threat which you are not certain to carry out. If you do, it demonstrates your position is weak.

Problematic “security guarantees” only if Ukraine accepts Russian terms now covered with American wrapper. Any such deal in a non-starter for Putin, and sets the stage for more and bloodier Russian SVOs in Europe as well as Chinese aggression in Asia, since invasion pays big dividends.

Ukraine still insists that Russia withdraw and give the Donbas back to Ukraine as well as Crimea. When it does there will be a bloodbath of all Ukraine people who helped the invaders. Russia will never accept this especially when its winning the war. As long as Europe insists that Russia must not be “Rewarded” with land the war will drag on. It is up to the people of Ukraine to toss out war monger Zelensky and make peace.

The EU should pay completely, 100% for the reconstruction of Ukraine and also for military support.

But that military support cannot come from the EU as the EU is basically a confederation, it has no military.

The EU should pay for this.

No non-Ukrainian troops in Ukraine, but a military radar and missile shield over what remains of Ukraine would help them feel confident that Muscowy won’t return in a few years and grab more land.

But the $$ should come from the EU
