Medically it’s used as a pain killer in extreme cases. As a street drug, an amount equal to 10 grains of salt can kill you.
Yes it is a powerful narcotic there a big high especially with initial usage.
If a nation attacks the US with a weapon of mass destruction, we can respond with one. But the US currently deploys only one kind of weapon of mass destruction.
Not that we would use them, but this officially enables the option.
A message to certain South American narco countries, imo.

Nashville—Attorney General Jonathan Skrmetti is joining a multistate effort urging President Biden to classify fentanyl as a Weapon of Mass Destruction. The 18 state attorneys general demand the president take decisive action in response to the record increase in overdose deaths related to the lethal substance nationwide and the potential for deliberate misuse.
I have never had any but both my son and wife have been given it during minor surgery.
My son had a bad reaction during his wisdom teeth removal.
Bad enough to increase his heart rate and call an ambulance.
He went to the ER a mile away. He was released later that evening. Needless to say he was not charged for those wisdom teeth removal.
It is. A few hundred kilos into a water supply could kill a city of eight million people, very mostly peacefully.

To call these narco operatives smugglers of “ WMD”

Heroin addicts take it because it is cheap. Many people that die from F overdoses are taking “pills” laced with high doses of F that kills them. That is why we read about high school students dying because they take a pill laced with it.
