Rob Reiner’s moving remarks about the killing of Charlie Kirk went viral after the famed director and his wife Michele were found dead Sunday in their Los Angeles home. Both had stab wounds, according to reports.
Reiner, who directed such movie hits as “When Harry Met Sally” after notably playing “Meathead” Michael Stivic on TV’s “All in the Family,” appeared on Piers Morgan “Uncensored” in late September following Kirk’s assassination at a Utah rally earlier in that month.
Reiner, a liberal political activist, paid more than lip service to the shooting of Kirk, a get-out-the-vote advocate for young conservatives, when Morgan asked Reiner for his gut reaction to the assassination.
“Absolute horror and I unfortunately saw the video of it,” Reiner replied. “It’s beyond belief what happened to him. That should never happen to anybody. I don’t care what your political beliefs are. That’s not acceptable. That’s not a solution so solving problems.”
“And I felt like what his wife [Erika] said at the service at the memorial they had, was exactly right,” he continued. “I’m Jewish but I believe in the teachings of Jesus and I believe in ‘do unto others’ and I believe in forgiveness and what she said to me was beautiful. She forgave his assassin. And I think that is admirable.”

I know Reiner was a liberal zealot, but there seems to be a divide between an older generation of liberals who (it amazes me that I have to say this) didn’t want to actually harm their ideological opponents and a newer breed who literally want to kill their opponents. Reiner had crazy liberal ideas but it never entered his mind to physically harm a conservative. You get a glimpse of it every once in a while. There are some liberals who are very patriotic and do USO tours. Reiner’s generation is being replaced by Fascist thugs who think violence is an acceptable political tool.

Odd. I always opine that the radical Leftists from the Sixties and early Seventies cut their hair, put on suits, and began to take power.

Before the mid-Sixties, the Left had not gone fully off the rail in the open public. One could find people in the Democrat Party who, while having differences in various social policies and spending priorities, still loved America and what it stood for.
Today, I do not believe there is a person on the Left who loves the principles this country was founded on. These are real liberals. What we have today are radical marxist leftists, fixated on bringing down America. They are not the same, but unfortunately the old guard liberals still think the new wave are on their team and vote them in.
