Sh!t like this will be the end of the Trump era in American politics. Foreign policy is the ONE AREA of government where the executive branch can operate with minimal involvement of Congress, so there are no excuses for this sh!t.

Probably doing intelligence work. I wonder if they were actually contractors.

That honeymoon was short. Maybe Trump should give the president of Syria another MAGA hat.

Troops should be out of Syria. We do not belong there.

After Baathist Syria’s involvement in 911 we should be asking why there is a Syria.

Per the article, our forces are there to prevent ISIS terrorists from destabilizing whatever government Syria has, or making a comeback. This comes under “better to fight them over there than over here”. Seems like a legitimate use of US forces and/or contractors.

To keep the Russians and Iranians from returning it to its ways as a smuggling point, arms and drug smuggling base, and staging area for chemical weapons and terrorist groups.

Syria and Iraq were home the Baath Party, a nasty leftover from the Nazi era that the Russians later adopted and nurtured.

As it happens, there is a strong Baath Party presence in Venezuela.

It’s happening again. We’re being pulled into some preexisting conflict.

Pay more attention, Syria was always Zarqawi’s safe haven. Zarqawi was the founder of ISIS , the guy to who Saddam Hussein’s red headed general swore an oath of allegiance to, before Obama generously let those terrorisyts back into Iraq.

Syria was also host to Imad Mugniyeh, who killed hundreds of US Marines, and who committed acts of terrorism in our own hemisphere.

Imad was made room temperature a few years back right after he had met with some Syrian generals.

It was doing all these things while receiving protection from allowing Russia to base its ships there.

US troops have long been in Syria, Al-Tanf base and elsewhere in support of Kurds. Now those troops are protecting Al-Sharaa and his Al Qaeda pals from ISIS. US forces have been occasionally targeting ISIS leaders for a few years at least, as announced by CENTCOM. MSM seems disinterested.

“Iran, Venezuela Plotting Attacks ‘Worse than 9/11’”
by Anna Mahjar-Barducci

January 13, 2012 at 4:30 am

SNIPPET: “Tensions are mounting between the U.S. and Venezuela as the State Department decided to expel Livia Acosta Noguera, the Venezuelan consul in Miami, declaring her “persona non grata.” The Venezuelan consul was implicated in an alleged plot to launch cyber attacks on U.S. nuclear power facilities. The decision was taken as a direct result of the revelations made by the documentary The Iranian Threat, aired by the U.S Spanish language channel Univision.

In the film, the Venezuelan consul was caught on camera backing Iranian-sponsored cyber-attack against U.S. targets in 2007, when she was vice-secretary in the Venezuelan Embassy in Mexico. According to the documentary, these cyber-attacks would be “worse than 9-11.” The State Department did not want to comment on this decision. However, a U.S. high official stated that this expulsion is a serious issue, as “we do not take it lightly when we declare somebody persona non grata.””

“Venezuelan Minister Hangs Out With Hezbollah”
by Anna Mahjar-Barducci

February 11, 2011 at 3:15 am

SNIPPET: “Tarek Al-Aissami, the Venezuelan Minister of Interior and Justice, one of the key figures of the Chavez’s government, is accused by the media of having used this position to issue passports to members of Hamas and Hezbollah.

Born in Lebanon of Syrian descent in 1980; his father, Carlos Al-Aissami, was the head of the Venezuelan branch of the Iraqi Baath political party. According to reports, before the invasion of Iraq his father held a press conference in which he described himself as a Taliban and called Osama Bin Laden, “the great Mujahedeen, Sheik Osama bin Laden.”[1] The Minister’s great-uncle Shibli Al-Aissami was a prominent ideologist and assistant to the secretary general of the Baath party in Baghdad during the Saddam Hussein regime.[2]
