They ought not, in my opinion.

I am hard pressed to allow any sort of “fighting words” exceptions. Depending on time, place and recipient as to what constitutes fighting words is too loosey goosey for my taste.

Let people say what they want, and develop thicker skin.

Where I come from, he would have been arrested for assault and battery. And it was not anti-semitism, it was racism, as it would have been called if a white person had yelled out the “n” word before the attack.

For example, the use of the “N” word among blacks is common, but from white to black might be considered “fighting words” for the exact same expression. That’s not fair. The exact same syllables are legal or illegal depending on the speaker and the hearer?

That’s an unreasonable standard. It assumes a crystal ball on the part of the speaker into the state of mind of the hearer.

I agree 100%. I will defend this man's right to free speech although what he said is repulsive. If they can take his right to free speech they can take our right to free speech. Without free speech freedom always dies.

The purpose of "hate crime" laws is not to stop hate. The purpose is to control you with fear of jail.

This man was NOT accused of calling a woman a “dirty Jew”, because doing so would be unconstitutional. He was accused of attacking the woman. THAT’s illegal.
