Yesterday, an incident occurred in one of Russia’s bomber aviation regiments involving an aircraft that was parked inside a shelter.
According to the Russian propagandist Fighterbomber, the ejection system accidentally activated on board.
As a result, both the pilot and the navigator were killed, suffering fatal injuries.
The incident likely involved either a Su-34 fighter-bomber or a Su-24 frontline bomber.
Such cases occur due to improper maintenance of the ejection system or accidental activation.

This is what happens when you incorporate washing machine parts into sophisticated weapon systems.

Sergei hit the wrong button...that’s gonna leave more than a bruise on those russkies. More like a leaking bag of broken bones.

Decades after the fact, I learned that an NCO at my base threatened to ground the whole squadron over corroded contacts in the egress systems of the jets, and they could do whatever they wanted to him, afterward.

In addition a Russian heavy transport plane, Antonov -22 , crashed near Moscow. All onboard killed. Plane had just received maintenance. Last AN-22 that was flyable.

I’m thinking it was a suicide on one part and the other fatality was a collateral death.

If you’re not prepared and properly positioned you can lose a limb. Or two.

It’s Russia so probably vodka.

I think the issue was resolved to his satisfaction. I only heard about it through circuitous means.
There weren’t any accidental discharges, and I can’t be sure just how great the danger was. The seats were pulled fairly frequently for other maintenance, so I don’t think it would have been a huge deal.

To: Rummyfan
Yep, ask John McCain, broke two arms and a leg ejecting from his aircraft over Viet Nam. Lucky he lived. Too bad he became a politician.

All of the Wing Commanders were pilots, while I was there. I remember one Deputy Commander for Maintenance that wasn’t, but it shouldn’t have mattered. The guy just couldn’t, in good conscience, let it pass.

Ejection sequencer. Back seater initiates goes first, front seater seconds later. No going back once initiated.

Can you say “this was first reported by a pro-Russian military blogger called
FighterBomber?”
But go ahead and cast doubt on sh!t you know nothing about.

The egress teams at our base didn't screw around.
The lockout-tagout for the pins were absolute. That system wasn't going live if not in perfect shape.
To: Apparatchik
The incident likely involved...When they say stuff like this, it's probably propaganda.
But I can see something like this happening.
