I’m a Trekker. Heart and soul. Conventions, music videos and fan writing. I don’t think I live on the Enterprise and the last thing I want to do is go into space. But I love being a fan and interacting with other fans. Fandom CAN be a family, and a wonderful one at that.

An adult male fan of My Little Pony, Friendship is Magic. In 2010 they came out with a new version of the show from the 80's. Some guys on 4chan decided to watch it to see how bad it would be and instead were amazed at the quality of the show and it blew up on the internet from there. I watched it to see what the fuss was about and was immediately hooked. I've been to 5 BronyCons and about a hundred meetups and made real friends along the way.
This is real. They are called “bronies”. It makes no sense whatsoever.

And yes, it makes no sense. It never should have happened, but it did. Lauren Faust, the creator of MLP-FIM, just wanted to create a good show for little girls and instead created a cultural phenomenon.

Bronies tend to be more conservative on many positions.
My six year old granddaughter likes MLP. But the interest has been waning for a few months now. As it should be.
My four year old grandson likes hockey. As it should be.

One of my “woke” friends who protested in the “No Kings Day” march in Oregan, posted pictures on Facebook.
