Battlefield Picture Worsening for Ukraine as Trump Pushes Peace Plan
The New York Times ^ | Dec. 6, 2025 | Cassandra Vinograd, Oleksandr Chubko and Maria Varenikova

It was a clear attempt to project Russian power.

Hours before meeting U.S. officials in Moscow this past week about their plan to end the war, President Vladimir V. Putin claimed that Russia’s forces had seized the strategic Ukrainian city of Pokrovsk after a monthslong fight.

The reality was murkier. Slivers of the city were still contested, according to battlefield maps and the Ukrainian military. But Mr. Putin’s claim, even if premature, reflected a trend shaping his unbending approach to negotiations: Russian forces are on the march.

“The Russians do have the upper hand,” said Emil Kastehelmi, a military analyst with the Finland-based Black Bird Group. Ukraine is not yet at the point where it must capitulate, he said, but it “is looking weak enough that the Russians think that they can impose demands.”

Mr. Putin has ordered the Russian military to prepare for winter combat, signaling after the talks with U.S. officials that he is not budging from his hard-line demands. President Trump’s special envoy, Steve Witkoff, has since held a series of discussions in Miami with Ukraine’s delegation that both sides called “constructive.”

As these statements were being released, Russia unleashed more than 650 drones and 51 missiles on towns and cities across Ukraine in an assault that began overnight on Friday and stretched through Saturday morning, Ukrainian officials said.

On Saturday evening, President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine wrote on social media that he had “just had a long and substantive phone call” with Mr. Witkoff and Jared Kushner, the president’s son-in-law and a businessman who does some international diplomacy for Mr. Trump, during which they “agreed on the next steps and formats for talks with the United States.”

They just need to wrap this debacle up. It's over.

Nobody wants the ignobility of being the last person killed on the battlefield for a lost cause.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dRiOUvkLkT4

....last night Ukraine was hit by another massive attack across the entire country. From Lvov, to Kiev, to Odessa, and everything in between. The map shows the scale of it.

The Ukrainian Energy Minister statement reports this was the most powerful electrical grid attack, and no information when electricity can be restored.

In which they will again beg for a NATO-like security guarantee.

And in which they will again be told no.

Fight it out Vlad. See how that works out for ya.

Maybe we’ll see some progress soon. The US, Russia and Ukraine are negotiating an end to the war, cutting the EU out entirely. (This started in Alaska, despite the meaningless noise associated with that meeting.) They may actually get somewhere, Zelensky is feeling the heat.

I think the only question left is what guarantees will Zelensky get in return for giving up what’s left of the Donbass?

Releasing it now would be problematic, but after the Russians win, Congress will have hearings. They should subpoena and reveal the genuine CIA and Defense Intel assessments of Ukraine’s chance of victory, starting from before Putin invaded through the present. Gee, I wonder why Trump is trying to get the war over BEFORE Russia grinds out a victory on the battlefield...

The President has access to Tulsi Gabbard’s satellite recon imagery. He has declared no cards. No hope.

The Secy of the Army is Dan Driscoll and he has made it clear that weapons to provide Ukraine continued supply CANNOT take place. Not would not. He did not say that. He didn’t imply choice at all. He said cannot.

This is about magnets. The Chinese are approving export license requests at a very slow rate, or 0. The US imported 7500 tons of neodymium magnets last year and will likely not reach 1000 this year.

We can’t build weapons at any significant rate because we don’t have the magnets for motors. It will be 10+ years to fix that.

The Europeans PROBABLY have not had this explained. The US cannot admit to this. It would encourage enemies everywhere to act to consume our inventory — which we cannot replace.

So he Europeans, who haven’t placed enough magnet orders to have seen the problem . . . don’t see the problem. They will still encourage Ukraine. It’s VERY possible Lindsey Graham has not been briefed on this, either. So if they are talking to him about actions Congress might take . . . he would not understand the problem is not $$$. It is materials controlled by the Chinese.

50 percent of Russia’s railroad is down. Russia has run out of money and is selling its gold bars. Ukraine has run the Russian navy out of the Black Sea. Russia can’t win on the battlefield after 4 years so they are killing civilians at night. Most oil refineries in Russia are out of service thanks to Ukraine. Russia is losing 30,000 soldiers a month. Russian soldiers are having to get water from mud puddles. And the Russia Bots here can’t defend Russia so they attack anyone who does not support Russia...

Russia is losing 30,000 soldiers a month.

Only an idiot would believe that given the body exchange rate. Russia has given Ukraine 9000 bodies and received 143 in return.

Russia is losing 30,000 soldiers a month.

Allow me to run that statement through the Zeeper Hive Mind™ and see what pops out the other end. Here we go: "Russia is losing 435,987 soldiers a month while Yookland is losing 12. It is obvious that RuZZZia is collapsing and Yookland is winning! If you disagree, you're a Putin-puffer, Putinista, Putin-lover and just pure evil." Zeep! Zeep!

Body exchange rates is not a good test of how many Russians are taken off the battle field. Ukraine kills and wounds many behind Russian lines that can’t be picked up. Only an idiot would use that measurement. How about Russia invaded with 200,000 soldiers, they have added many more troops plus North Koreans and others to the Battle. If Russia is not losing many soldiers, why is Putin calling up 200,000 reservists? Because they are getting short of troops in Ukraine.

THIS JUST CAN’T BE TRUE!

Putin is dying of “something”.

Russia is running out of men.

Russians have lost 2,000,000 men and the Ukraine 5 total wounded and maybe 2 dead.

Russia can not replace all the weapons used in the first 24 hours of this conflict and have no more drones, ammo, fuel, artillery, missiles, food and other supplies.

When the Hollywood and Biden/RINO parasites are cheering for something...they are ALWAYS correct.

This is going to end as I said 6 months into this disaster. Ukraine will be split like Korea, landlocked when Odessa/Moldova falls and the Baltics had better decide to be nice or end up just like Ukraine.

Is it “fair”... no. The Russians are playing by big boy rules.

The Europeans look down on us and openly mock patriotic Americans as rubes..... F@#k them.

When the war spreads to Europe, look for Putin to supply weapons to the muslim men that have invaded the EU and UK. They’d lose minimal men and basically make white Christian EU citizens BEG for the Russians to “save” them from the big bad muslims.

The US is sitting this one out.

How do I know?... go ask a white male between the ages of 18-31 if he’d die for European freedom, when he cant buy a home, is considered a “threat” at home and watches his country eaten by muslim/3rd world parasites.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.....

Ruzzia will be taking more Ukie Territory.

Or losing the few square kilometers they have managed to capture at the cost of thousands of Russian soldiers.
