“ A man in a bulletproof vest with a firearm was detained on Friday night after police said he appeared to be following a congressman along a Christmas parade route. The unidentified man was detained and questioned by officers after exhibiting concerning behavior at the Stuart parade, according to the Martin County Sheriff's Office. Congressman Brian Mast attended the parade, and his personnel alerted the sheriff's department and Stuart Police to the man's 'alarming behavior.'”

Had he not been “behaving strangely” would it not have still been strange for him to be there in a bulletproof vest and with a firearm at a Christmas Parade?

Thanks for reminding me of that, I was reminded another cool old one recently, “Ape Man” (Kinks). It could be passed off as new.
It depends on his personal situation. There are those of us out there who have been physically threatened if not threatened to be killed.
And there are those out there that consider body armor and/or a concealed weapon license as evil as having a gun.
It boils down to the cops letting him go because he did nothing wrong.
There’s nothing strange about exercising self defense rights.
With the attacks on Christmas activities (eg tree lighting) I think I’d want to wear body armor if attended one.

Martin county Sheriff department is awesome. I live here but wasn’t at the parade.
I live one county up from you and have been to the parade many times over the years. I lived in Martin County for long time (port Salerno, palm city, Jensen) before moving and it’s still my fav place. The sheriff is fantastic and I worry about him all the time

Brian Mast. Isn’t he the former Army Ranger that was severely injured in Iraq by an IED? If so, I love this guy. True America hero.
