State Senator Lea Webb, who represents Tompkins, Cortland, and much of Broome County, is facing foreclosure on her Binghamton-area home, according to recent court documents.
The Ithaca Voice reports attorneys for PHH Mortgage Corporation, a New Jersey-based lender, filed a civil suit against Webb in federal district court on October 22 over missed mortgage payments. Court filings indicate that as of June 2025, Webb was in default for $7,760, roughly equivalent to three months of payments.
Webb purchased the four-bedroom home in Johnson City last December for $380,000, according to county records. The property is listed on Broome County tax rolls as her primary residence, with Webb as the sole owner.
In a statement to The Ithaca Voice, Webb acknowledged that she and her family have faced financial difficulties in recent months, which affected their ability to make mortgage payments.
“We all recognize that the affordability crisis is real and affects far too many working families,” Webb said. “I am actively working on the matter, and it is in the process of being resolved.”
The case remains pending in federal court.

In other news articles about the subject, she is touting the "Affordability Crisis" ™
I rest my case that some people are NOT cut out to be homeowners and should remain renters.
Gosh, just how many of these Reps (Fed and State) have been getting USAID grift?
So many are now busted flat for funds, it seems.
Gee! What a surprise.
Upstate New York ping
She just bought the house 11 months ago, she didn't know she was in financial crisis then and couldn't afford it?
We supposedly elect the best to represent us!?
If somebody cannot make the simple calculation about income vs. mortgage, then they should NOT represent ANYBODY.
Very few of the "best" even run for office. Politics is a pig sty.
“How do you get a mortgage earning 50K a year?”
Likely involves deliberate fraud by claiming false income and net worth on the loan application, with a double side order of race card. She probably projected more bribes, kickbacks, and diverted campaign contributions than materialized.
“We supposedly elect the best to represent us!?”
Two words: Barak Hussein Obama
saying she “bought” the house - she never made a payment
typical behavior- get a mortgage you’re not qualified for - don’t make payments - take about 3 years before they get you out
How does this get to Federal Court?
Is she going race card?
The representative system of government is NOT designed to elect the best. It is designed to elect the person whose beliefs most coincide with the majority of the electorate (or at least the person who is the most credible liar as representing the beliefs of the majority) look at the recent elections in NYC and Seattle. Mamdani and Wilson are about as far from the best as you can get, but they represent the bone deep and totally unjustified sense of entitlement of their foreign born and gen Z voters for more that better candidates did even left wing Bruce Harrel and the despicable Cuomo were more qualified for mayor of their respective cities. Especially worthless is Wilson who in her mid 40’s never held a job as was still supported by her parents.
How does an incompetent fat black woman get elected to anything in a place with only a 6% black population?
The level of white guilt in Ithaca must be through the roof!
Huba huba!
28 U.S.C. § 1332(a). If the mortgage lender is not incorporated or have a principal place of business in NY, and the amount of the mortgage loan exceeds $75,000, then the federal court has "diversity jurisdiction" to adjudicate the lawsuit. In other words, the mortgage lender can file the foreclosure action in state court or federal court.
“How does an incompetent fat black woman get elected to anything in a place with only a 6% black population?”
Because the deep state loves them with the lowest IQ possible. They are easier to control that way. So that is where the election money goes.
Nah, I think there were enough guilt ridden, DEI supporting, pathologically compassionate whites that gladly voted for her and put her over the top.
Ithaca is a very liberal university town - Berkely East.
