Trump pardons Democratic Rep. Henry Cuellar in bribery case
The New York Post ^ | 12/03/2025 | Steven Nelson

Posted on 12/03/2025 8:49:52 AM PST by thegagline

President Trump announced Wednesday that he will pardon Texas Democratic Rep. Henry Cuellar, who had faced federal bribery charges.

Cuellar, an outspoken critic of former President Joe Biden’s border policies, was indicted last year for allegedly accepting $600,000 from Azerbaijan’s state-owned oil company and a Mexican bank in exchange for official acts.

“For years, the Biden Administration weaponized the Justice System against their Political Opponents, and anyone who disagreed with them,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

One of the clearest examples of this was when Crooked Joe used the FBI and DOJ to ‘take out’ a member of his own Party after Highly Respected Congressman Henry Cuellar bravely spoke out against Open Borders, and the Biden Border ‘Catastrophe.’

“Sleepy Joe went after the Congressman, and even the Congressman’s wonderful wife, Imelda, simply for speaking the TRUTH. It is unAmerican and, as I previously stated, the Radical Left Democrats are a complete and total threat to Democracy!” the president wrote.

“They will attack, rob, lie, cheat, destroy, and decimate anyone who dares to oppose their Far Left Agenda, an Agenda that, if left unchecked, will obliterate our magnificent Country. Because of these facts, and others, I am hereby announcing my full and unconditional PARDON of beloved Texas Congressman Henry Cuellar, and Imelda. Henry, I don’t know you, but you can sleep well tonight — Your nightmare is finally over!“

Well, if you invite those “really good people” over for dinner, I suggest you hide the good silverware.

Did this guy actually do this?

$600k is not a small amount of money. If he did this, he should rot in jail. Pardoning him because “he was a target” suggests that “everyone does this, but they picked on him because he was a foe.”

That doesn’t feel right.

The pardon of the Honduran president is dubious from what I’ve read.

I am out of the habit of assuming anything done during the Biden years is legit.

Why was he a target? What did he do that was good for America?

The problem is not so much the offense, if there even was one. The problem is a “show me the man and I’ll show you the crime” process that was initiated out of political spite. It wasn’t so much Biden, either. It was Auto Penis.

I expressed my doubts when I first heard about this and some people here were quick to defend President Trump on this, but as of yet I haven't heard a good rationale for pardoning this guy. Was the the guy a corrupt politician aiding and abetting the drug cartels, or wasn't he?

I only briefly scanned this:

Two of the charges were dismissed according to what I read elsewhere.

The pardon of the Honduran president is dubious from what I’ve read.

On one hand, Trump is blowing up alleged drug dealers on boats and threatening military action against Venezuela because of its role in drug trafficking. On the other hand, Trump pardoned the Honduran president who is a convicted drug trafficker. To further underscore the insanity of this situation, the pardoned drug trafficker’s brother and co-conspirator was arrested and prosecuted by…wait for it…. Trump’s FBI and DOJ during Trump’s first term as president.

Really?

This is your takeaway from why Trump is pardoning Cuellar?

Completely ignoring the facts of the case?

He has a soft spot for people who have been Alinsky’ed - targetted and screwed by the system.

You seem to have a problem with the concept of equal treatment under the law. Fortunately Trump does not.

Pardons are BS. They should only be used in the case of blatant trial bias. Otherwise the system is what it is. Don’t like this one bit.

“Trump has a soft spot for fraudsters and hucksters:”

Could these people be “deal example” chips for pardons of lower level people to rat on the upper level players.

For example: If a Comey could see pardons available for Dems would he rat on Mr. O ?

Or the AutoPen people to rat on Dr Jill, etc

So the hucksters pardons show the possibilities of leniency.

Many of them, IMHO, were targeted for going against Democrat Party orthodoxy. In the case of Henry Cuellar it's illegal immigration.

It's interesting to note that NOBODY in the Biden crime family gets targeted like this, nor is Nancy Pelosi with her insider trading, or the Clinton Foundation, or Mr. Diane Feinstein and his sweetheart China deals, etc.

Why isn't (our own) Martin Armstrong on the list? According to Mr. Armstrong, he was asked by the Trump Administration to draw up a Ukraine peace plan.
