US President Donald Trump warned Israel via social media on Monday against destabilizing Syria and its new leadership, shortly before holding a phone conversation with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
“It is very important that Israel maintain a strong and true dialogue with Syria, and that nothing takes place that will interfere with Syria’s evolution into a prosperous State,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform, days after a deadly operation by Israeli forces in the south of the country.
Trump said he was “very satisfied” with Syria’s current performance under former Islamist rebel President Ahmed al-Sharaa, who made a historic visit to the White House in November.
The US president said Sharaa “is working diligently to make sure good things happen, and that both Syria and Israel will have a long and prosperous relationship together.” He added that the United States was “doing everything within our power to make sure the Government of Syria continues to do what was intended” to rebuild the war-torn country.
Good relations between Syria and Israel would add to his efforts for a wider Middle East peace following the fragile Gaza ceasefire in October, said Trump.

That’s gonna leave a mark, if true. Syria appears to be seriously ramping up towards an onslught against Israel and Bibi would like to nip it in the bud if possible.
I’m not sure how Trump believes he is the director of events in the ME, and I think he’s out over his skis on this one.
Israel is trying to prevent the next war with Syria, instead of waiting for it.
I suspect the Middle East would be in a lot better shape if US presidents did not continually pull Israel’s leash. The Israelis know their neighborhood a lot better than we do - history has shown repeatedly that we do not get it right over there.
I hope Trump doesn’t have my phone number. I want to make my own decisions...
Maybe he thinks that because he bombed Iran for Israel (in addition to all the money and weapons the U.S. provides), that Israel owes ... something.
This is one of those moments in history when titanic forces are in motion. The US wants for none of those forces to do anything. Like the cop on the beat, the US doesn’t care who did what to who. It just wants peace. Not justice. Just peace and quiet. But if Israel lets developments set the agenda, it risks coming out the other side much worse off.
But if Isreal sets the agenda, then Israel may face an entire century of relative peace and quiet. I’m with Israel on this one. Bibi is the one leader who I think can set the course and come out with Israel in a better position.
BTW what are the symptoms of ASD?
What are the treatment options?
When should one decide to call one’s doctor?
So exciting to learn of this new malady.
Qatar bailed out Witkoff, Trump’s close personal friend, who may now be exploiting Trump’s implicit trust to make money off Qatar and Russia, by shilling for them.
Lol. The Middle East is ungovernable by themselves. Much less outsiders. Best to treat those nations like rabid dogs.
Anyone who pays their own way has a right to their own decisions.
Israel does not pay its own way. Its lobby is constantly extracting money, weapons, and military interventions (like the bombing of Iran) from the U.S.
I'm sure his Saudi buddies (and every other Sunni country in the area) were brokenhearted about Iran losing its nuclear capabilities. No, he did it all for Israel, from sheer altruism.
Because without American aid and geopolitical leverage these past decades, Israel would have been able to act as though it were untouchable. That comes with consequences when our the aims of our government is at cross purposes with theirs. That's really all there is to it.
*Israel would NOT have been able to act, I should say.
Ezekiel, 38, 39 says Israel will.
Oh I dunno, perhaps because we sponsor Israel's very existence and inherit all their enemies - then make war with them on Israel's behalf.
Was Trump "over his skis" when we bombed Iran, while Netanyahu was the USA's "director of events?"
Save the heretical interpretations of scripture for those silly rapture threads.
No, that was Jacksonian foriegn policy.
.
It’s probably one of those things he has to said publicly while winking at Bibi.
The US and Turkey are the ones controlling the Syrian government and they want Israel to stay out of it.
