Satellite Photo Captures China’s D-Day Invasion Drills
Newsweek ^ | Nov. 26, 2025 | Micah McCartney

New satellite imagery shows China testing its landing barges, which analysts say appear tailor-made for an invasion of Taiwan.

Among these new vessels are landing docks, more advanced amphibious assault ships, and specialized landing barges analysts have dubbed Shui Qiao, or "water bridges," that appear purpose-built for a potential beach landing in an attack on Taiwan.

Satellite imagery shared by open-source analyst Brady Africk on X showed three of China’s so-called Shui Qiang landing barges off the coast of Ningbo in Zhejiang province on November 20.

A separate photo captured by European Space Agency satellites and reviewed by Newsweek shows three barges linked together.

New satellite imagery shows China’s assault barges undergoing further testing along the country’s east coast.

Each barge is equipped with a 400-foot deployable roadway that extends from the bow. With multiple vessels connected, the trucks and tanks can be transferred from incoming ships and directly onto coastal roads on the far side of a beach.

Experts note that the Shui Qiao would be easy targets, however, and would require substantial air and naval cover to operate effectively in a real assault.

This photo, captured by ESA satellites, shows three Chinese Shui Qiao invasion barges connected off Xiangshan on November 22, 2025.

Bryce Barros, a security analyst and associate fellow at the think tank GLOBSEC, previously told Newsweek:

“Everything about whether or not they can be used effectively depends on China having full control of the waters and skies around Taiwan. They’re very slow; they’re very large; and they’re huge targets. That means they’d need strong air defense, counter-drone systems, and protection against unmanned surface and underwater vehicles.”

Seems like the only question is when, not whether China will attack Taiwan.

My guess is China is hoping Newsom or some other Democrat is the next President. That's when they're going to attack. Then the media will blame Trump.

We are going to have to do something before that happens. Period.

Less than 10% of them would make it to shore.

This is probably the REAL reason we were told to back Ukraine.
To get flat footed looking the wrong direction.

China may wargame Taiwan but nothing will happen under President Trump.

He’d just say “I’m looking for Peking on the map - oh here it is - so you call it Beijing now? No worries - it won’t need a name now.”

Don’t screw with our President. Pretty sure they know that.

They have to travel 135 miles under a barrage of missiles.

Good luck with that.

400 foot cantilevered bridge/roadway? Somehow I doubt this claim.

China would blockade Taiwan and squeeze it to death.

The invasion would be successful. It is funny how Free Traitors and globalists think their chip factory could defeat the PLAN. You people are both funny and evil at the same time.

So do I, but whatever; it's easy enough to put simply put floats under the things.

I have an aquaculture background and the big netpen systems used in Norway and Canada can support heavy equipment driving on them easily enough while still being light enough that when 'empty' (i.e. no nets in the water) a 16' skiff with a 40 horse outboard can push around a 400' section of them without much issue. I'd know: I've done it before myself. They're also perf-decked (completely self-bailing by default) and articulated to flex with wave action, in addition to being modular and user-assemblable with basic hand/power tools without any prior training.

It doesn't seem like it'd take much to adapt/enhance them for military use, to be honest.

Yeah, move all chip production to the U.S. Otherwise we are screwed.

China would blockade Taiwan and squeeze it to death.

Exactly. It takes only the WILL to do it, and it will be done. It is inevitable. And honestly, why should we care, other than chip plants that we never should have gotten so dependent upon, and the massive U.S. arms that are based there.

Ok. Mrs Xi. If they could have they would have under Biden. It’s all bluster to keep the 30 million men busy to forget the fact that they’ll never get married and have kids.

If you were commanding Chinese armies, is this how you would attack?

Or would you have arrangements like these to ease occupation after surrender?

To defeat Taiwan, you bomb their oil import terminals. Simply that. You do it again and again. You don’t even have to hit tankers and give someone justification for more and more intervention. The tankers have no way to offload if you have bombed the ports.

They have no domestic oil production and oil moves food to shelves.

Nothing compels surrender quite like starvation.

The ONLY hope you have is that the Chinese generals, like all generals, want to be immortal by appearing in history books showing large sweeping arrows on a map that they commanded.

That could work. Those guys may not want a starvation generated surrender.

But . . . not a real good scenario to depend on.
