Trump Uses National Guard Shooting to Cast Suspicion on Refugees
The New York Times ^ | Nov. 27, 2025Updated Nov. 28, 2025, 1:16 a.m. ET | Shawn McCreesh

The shooting of two National Guard members the day before in Washington hung over President Trump’s Thanksgiving events at Mar-a-Lago, where he held a call with members of the military to thank them for their service on the holiday.

At the beginning of the call, he revealed that one of the Guard members, Army Specialist Sarah Beckstrom, had died.

“It’s just happened,” Mr. Trump said. “She was savagely attacked. She’s dead. Not with us.” The other victim, he said, was “fighting for his life.”

Later, a White House official said that the president had spoken with the family of the slain National Guard member.

After authorities identified the suspect as an Afghan refugee, members of the Trump administration and other Republicans reacted furiously. They cited it as evidence of what they had been warning about immigration, condemned the Biden administration’s refugee policies and said it justified a further crackdown on immigration.

Joseph Edlow, director of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, announced on Thursday that in the wake of the attack, he was implementing new policy guidance on vetting prospective immigrants from 19 high-risk countries using “country-specific factors as significant negative factors.” The change in guidance had been under consideration before the shooting.

In his statement, Mr. Edlow blamed the Biden administration for “dismantling basic vetting and screening standards, prioritizing the rapid resettlement of aliens from high-risk countries over the safety of American citizens.”

The fierce rhetoric was echoed across the administration.

“I remember back in 2021 criticizing the Biden policy of opening the floodgate to unvetted Afghan refugees,” Vice President JD Vance wrote on social media on Wednesday. “Friends sent me messages calling me a racist. It was a clarifying moment. They shouldn’t have been in our country.”

Well, INGSOC media is using the incident to cast suspicion on Trump and his use of the National Guard in DC (even though it has likely saved many lives).

Check him out.

He was MoDo’s assistant for five years.

Bet Dowd taught him well.

"...Trump Uses National Guard Shooting to Cast Suspicion on Refugees..."

How terrible.

I liked it much better when the NYT focused recently on the plight of a Guatemalan Criminal Alien who stole the identity of an American citizen, ran up bills, got his driver insurance cancelled, and made the Criminal Alien out to be the victim rather than the poor American who ended up having to agree to pay $150 a month on a payment plan for the rest of his natural life to compensate for the death of a man cycling with his granddaughter who the Criminal Alien hit with his automobile.

I felt so sad for the Criminal Alien Guatemalan who stole his identity, being deported as he is. The whole church came out in support of him, saying he was a pillar of the community and an all around good guy.

The American citizen trying to live his own life and pay his own bills was of no concern of the New York Times. After all, American Citizens should be willing to make sacrifices to accommodate the Criminal Aliens who have invaded this country.

No it doesn’t. They are not refugees, they are illegals-criminals.

Yup. “Republicans pounce”. The NYT would claim Pearl Harbor was just a Republican excuse to cast suspicion on the Japanese.

Author of this article, Shawn McCreesh, wrote and worked for Rolling Stone Magazine. He then navigated to a job as an editorial assistant at Men’s Journal before working for Maureen Dowd at The New York Times.

Claims he manages to sustain his own editorial standards, being truthful, free of bias and accurate, “ I guess I would say you’re not supposed to ever be on anyone’s team,” he said, “We’re not supposed to be the resistance. We’re not supposed to be the cheerleaders, whether that’s for Democrats or Republicans— no matter who’s in office.

He describes his job as requiring him to write honestly, accurately and to pose tough questions, yet to be fair all around, especially during election coverage.

What a lot of rubbish THAT is. His articles are all anti-Trump and pro-Dem policies.
