Why do you say that?
The Turks I know from western Turkey aren’t enthusiastic about Erdogan. And Turkey has structural problems
The Turks I know from western Turkey aren’t enthusiastic about Erdogan.
I am not saying it will happen with Erdogan, this is more 10-20 years down the road. But Erdogan is certainly planting the seeds.
Interesting. Share more of what you are thinking. I haven’t paid much attention to Turkey
Is that a first-strike attack plan, or a defend-the-invasion plan?
It would be insane to pick a fight with a nuclear armed opponent.
So, be civilized; TRADE for it!
So, be civilized; TRADE for it!

I don’t think that this article is serious. I think it’s a bad joke.
But he who trusts the media is doomed from the outset. The media want to sell papers, nothing more.
And they are doing their best, now that Ukraine‘s powers are depleted, to keep the war against Russia going. The neocons are still pulling strings behind the scenes…
Should be as clear as light of day, I thought…
Germany can nuke The Kremlin from orbit, and the world will give a sigh of relief. Or nuke Russian’s five largest vodka distilleries. They will surrender Ukraine within a week
This would be the Rubber Match.
Trade with what? They're broke. They have destroyed their own economies. Their only hope of clinging to power is a declared war and martial law.
Germany doesn’t have nuclear weapons.
Maybe they could build them if they take time out from destroying their electrical power grid, and de-industrializing their economy.
I think the main information value in this article is that a gov’t/military source leaked this.
Not that the media printed it.
The author is the WSJ correspondent in Germany. But I seriously doubt the German military or gov’t would leak this. They just defer to the USA on this stuff.
I’m pretty sure this is a leak from the USA military/intel side.
But I don’t understand why anyone would think making this ludicrous plan public would improve anything.
Yes, you are definitely right, I believe.
After all, Berlin has deferred to the wishes of DC every time since Iraq…but this time, it seems that a peaceful solution to the current conflict should have been pursued by NATO - but as long as NATO exists, Berlin will have to do its bidding…whether for good or for ill, remains to be seen.
It’s not clear to me now whether Europe wants this war to continue more than Trump.
I know there is divisions in the EU.
(there are divisions in the Trump Admin)
Nobody over here wants war.
I know that the prospect of a military conflict between NATO and Russia is considered a serious threat, but I don’t think hardly any European would shed his blood for the freedom of Ukraine.
Some members of the power elites in Europe would like a war, maybe, but others would rather not.
