The gunman accused of shooting two National Guard members blocks from the White House the day before Thanksgiving is 29-year-old Afghan national Rahmanullah Lakanwal, three law enforcement sources confirmed to Fox News Digital.
Lakanwal, an illegal migrant who entered the U.S. after the withdrawal from Afghanistan, overstayed his visa granted under Operation Allies Welcome, sources said.
Authorities are investigating the shooting as a possible act of international terrorism.

Suspect in National Guard shooting identified, sources say
Multiple law enforcement officials tell CBS News the suspect in the shooting of the two National Guard members is 29-year-old Afghan national Rahmanullah Lakanwal, who entered the U.S. in 2021.
The suspect used a handgun to carry out the attack, two law enforcement sources told CBS News.
He reportedly waited around the corner for the Guardsmen to come around and shot a female Guard in the chest first, and then shot her in the head with her own weapon.
The Fox News reporter just told Jason Chaffetz they were also stabbed in their heads, both of them.

Afghan National, born in 1996, armed with a revolver ambushed a female guardsman, shooting her in the head, and a male guardsman, shot multiple times. They never saw it coming. Both guardsmen were armed.

The suspect came for the Major who pulled out his pocket knife, and bravely took on the suspect who was reloading his revolver.
The Major began stabbing the suspect in the head.
Another guardsman in the area who was armed, them drew his pistol and shot the suspect twice, once in the leg and once in the buttocks.
The Major stated that when the suspect began shooting he heard him shout, Allahu akbar!”

There’s more: we trying to confirm if the suspect, an Afghan national was an interpreter brought over by Biden, because he has a Department of Defense record. Again, we are trying to confirm.

The idea that Afghans were “vetted” before entering the USA is absurd
They lived in a primitive culture, without records, without documents, and operated in a language Americans did not understand.
Obviously Trump’s fault for enforcing the law.
If true, that will make for an awkward discussion to say the least.
Here’s what’s actually documented:
•Suspect entered the U.S. on a Special Immigrant Visa (SIV) during Operation Allies Refuge, a process that began under Trump, was executed during the Biden withdrawal, and was supported by bipartisan votes in Congress.
• Suspect filed for asylum in late 2024 and was approved in April 2025 under the Trump administration, but asylum adjudication is handled by career officers following laws written and funded by multiple administrations.
• Both parties expanded, supported, or failed to reform the SIV and asylum systems that allowed this case to unfold the way it did.
Trying to turn this into a partisan attack misses the real issue because this wasn’t a “Democrat failure” or a “Republican failure.” It was a system failure decades in the making, and both sides helped build the system.
Bush started the war, Obama continued it, Trump expanded the SIV pipeline, Biden executed the withdrawal and processed the evacuees, Congress funded it under all four.

Probably registered to vote in Washington state, and probably did actually vote.
Biden has more blood on his hands.

The shooter, 29-year-old Rahmanullah Lakanwal is believed to be from Afghanistan and came to the United States in 2021 through Operation Allies Welcome, a Biden administration program that evacuated and resettled tens of thousands of Afghans after the U.S. withdrawal from the country.
Lakanwal applied for asylum in 2024 and was granted asylum in April 2025, under the Trump administration, according to three law enforcement sources.
CBS and the Associated Press have verified the alleged shooter is from Bellingham, Washington. Lakamal arrived in Bellingham, Washington, about 79 miles (127.1 kilometers) north of Seattle, with his wife and five children, said his former landlord Kristina Widman. KIRO 7 spoke to neighbors in Bellingham who believe they knew the suspect’s family, and described them as kind and quiet.
I have questions: Is Lakanwal still living in Bellingham? If so, how did Lakanwal get the enhanced I.D. necessary to fly from Washington State to Washington D.C.? How was he able to buy a gun?
He was granted asylum in April 2025. In fairness, Biden isn’t the only one who has blood on his hands.
