The American F-35 stealth fighters that participated in the Operation Midnight Hammer strikes on Iran flew hundreds of miles deep into its airspace and were the last ones out, US military commanders revealed this week.
F-35A Lightning II aircraft assigned to the Utah-based 388th Fighter Wing escorted the B-2 Spirit stealth bombers that dropped over a dozen heavy bunker-buster bombs on Iran's nuclear facilities in late June.
The F-35s suppressed Iran's air defenses and cleared the way for other combat aircraft, including the seven B-2s, during the complex nighttime operation.
"We flew hundreds of miles into Iran, escorting the B-2s the entire way," Lt. Col. Aaron Osborne, commander of the 34th Fighter Squadron, shared in a US Air Force story. "We employed weapons to great effect against multiple surface-to-air missile sites."

Thank you very much and God bless you,

Of note: It costs less than any current 4th gen fighter.
And it can penetrate any airspace, anywhere.
It is the best strike aircraft in the world, bar none.
Something we can agree on.
When did we declare war on Iran?
If we are willing to send our men in to harms way for Israel why are pussy footing around in Ukraine?
Don’t get me wrong. I think our involvement in Ukraine is asinine.
But if we are going to go to war, strike hard and then harder and get it over and done. Prolonged war waste lives and treasure. But maybe that is what the Military Industrial Complex wants.
One of the most effective strikes in history.
“When did we declare war on Iran?”
Shortly after DJT decided Iran would not have a nuclear weapon.
And people criticize Tucker Carlson: "Why is he so obsessed with Israel??"
Maybe because we are at war with Iran, on Isreal's side?
The F-35 was once called “they flying bathtub”. It does have a tubby appearance, not sleek and aggressive looking like an F-22 or even an older bird such as the F-18. But I guess at the end of the day it doesn’t matter what it LOOKS LIKE. It’s mission-proven now. Kudos to all involved and NO SPECIFIC LEAKS AHEAD OF THE MISSION which in this day and age is an accomplishment in and of itself !
We didn’t declare war on Iran. They declared war on us, in 1979.
And those nukes were being prepped for us.
I know I am Old School but there is a little matter of Article 1 Section 8 that grants Congress the power to declare war.
Yes, just about every president has done this since the end of WW II but it does not make it right.
Either we have a constitution or we don’t.
I prefer to have one.
Ignoring the Constitution gave us Barrak Obama and Joe Biden.
F22s were also used, but did air-to-air work and the “package” was delivered without ever being seen, so they basically just had a very long and boring flight (which was ideal).
F16s and F15s poked at the edges targeting border radar sites, without crossing into Iranian airspace and hitting targets over the horizon.
Prior to the attack (from June 13–20), Israel conducted ~3 waves of strikes under Rising Lion, destroying ~70–80% of Iran’s operational air defenses (per U.S. assessments). This included ~100 aircraft total across operations, with no IAF losses. This transformed the USA strike from “high risk” to “low to uncontested” per US analysts.
Post-strike, on June 23, IAF F-35Is and F-16Is hit Fordow access routes and Evin Prison,
“When did we declare war on Iran?”
They declared war on us on November 4, 1979.
Yes. It’s so.
My son is an Air Force pilot. He thinks it is a beast, so there is that.
Because IF we didn’t hit them with our bunker buster bombs, Israel was going to NUKE them. Potentially, starting WW3.
That is why we acted on Israel’s behalf.
The President can recognize war.
For example, if a mass launch of ICBMs comes towards the USA, the president can recognize the state of war, and launch our missiles and bombers in response without waiting for congress to eventually get around to saying "Well, ah do declare, there is a war!"
When minutes count, congress is months (or years) away...
I suppose you can look at it that way.
However we never declared war on them.
You may recall that when Japan declared war on us and attacked Pearl Harbor FDR sought and got a declaration of war from Congress.
Perhaps it is a formality but it matters.
another Rand Paul fan?
Do you believe that every military action taken by the CIC irrespective how miniscule require an act of Congress?
These aircraft fly over our area often. Out of Hill AFB.
You can hear them as soon as they crest the Wasatch.
Still better than the Monica:
