Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said Ukraine faces one of the most difficult moments in its history, after Donald Trump demanded Kyiv accepts within days a US-backed “peace plan” that would force it to give up territory to Russia and make other painful concessions.
Trump confirmed on Friday morning that next Thursday – Thanksgiving in the US – would be an “acceptable” deadline for Zelenskyy to sign the deal, which European and Ukrainian officials have said amounts to a “capitulation”.
In a sombre 10-minute speech outside his presidential palace, Zelenskyy said his country had an impossible choice. It could keep its national dignity or risk losing a major partner in the shape of a US administration apparently determined to end the conflict on Moscow’s brutal terms.
“Now the pressure on Ukraine is one of the heaviest,” he said. Its options included agreeing to Trump’s 28-point proposal or “an extremely difficult winter”, which has already seen Russia destroy much of the country’s energy infrastructure, with millions of people left without heating and in the dark.
Agreeing to the US-Russian plan could leave Ukraine “without freedom, dignity and justice”, he said. It would also mean believing “someone who has already attacked us twice”, he said, adding that he would never sacrifice Ukraine’s interests or go against its constitution. “We did not betray Ukraine then [in 2022], and we will not do so now,” he declared.
Speaking on Fox radio, Trump said he thought Thursday was an “appropriate time” for Zelenskyy to sign the deal, and said he believed Ukraine could not prevent Russia’s army from taking the Donbas territories by force. The US president is pursuing an “aggressive timeline” to end the conflict, US officials indicated, and intends to heap unprecedented pressure on Kyiv.

Says the guy who is on video playing the piano with his peepee...
Nothing in diplomacy is impossible.
The options might be distasteful, but that’s another issue altogether.
This is how it was always going to end.
Whether sooner or later.
Attrition has been YouCrayne’s Biggest Enemy.
It could be soon. It could be later.
But the outcome will be the same.
Impossible for him but I have no doubt the vast majority of Ukrainians agree with the Trump’s peace plan.
Azov does not agree.
They have enormous power...it comes from the barrel of a gun.
Anyone who signs this deal is in danger.
Sucks to be them.
But, I hope Trump will finally have had enough of Zelensky if he doesn't sign this deal and finds a way to get rid of him.
He'll be lucky to see his 50th birthday.
all those white Christian men killed just so the deep state neoCON scum and ukraine kleptocrats could make billions off of ‘aid’ for ukraine.
“without freedom, dignity and justice”
Zelensky’s partner Timur Mindich fled Ukraine after embezzling $100 million dollars.
Dignity and justice would be that SOB strung up. What say you ?
Let the little trashbag use his own weapons, money and intel if he doesn’t like our deal. His days of graft and dragging us down with him are over.
We should never have been his corrupt s**thole, at all, flushing tons of weaponry and hundreds of billions down the toilet.
Hopefully he gets dealt with in the harshest terms imaginable.
Folks should be aware this is a framework. The demand is that Zelensky sign the framework. Then it is sent to Moscow, but as we have seen in S. Korea with the Chinese, a framework does not define the details.
Important to get the full 28 pts understood. Witkoff and Dmitriev did a great job on this. Comprehensive stuff, including address of the Russian language and the single most powerful concession by the Russians . . . they are not demanding a pro Russia government in Kiev.
Details will have to be hashed out. No NATO troops allowed in Ukraine will need to be polished to No Foreign troops allowed in Ukraine, in case some NATO members choose to drop out of NATO before sending troops.
Also the phrasing is a gradual undoing of all sanctions on Russia will need details and polish. Perhaps 50% of all sanctions undone when total POW exchange and KIA exchange is complete, and then the other 50% when Euroclear sends the Russian assets to JP Morgan and Europe raises its required $100B and begins spending it.
There is work to do.
The absolute best thing to do with an addict is to let them fall down to rock bottom. Then, they alone have to build themselves back up and they own who they become.
Capitulation vs conquer vs WWIII. So many choices.
I’m surprised the Russians agreed to the framework.
A US security guarantee?
Releasing $100bil in hard assets?
Then there’s the “impossible choice” of the U.S. taxpayer who’s forced to pay for it all.
Consequences. You, along with the coalition of globalists, didn’t want to talk to Russia to address its concerns in a good faith way and you got war as a result.
The money was gone and they have economists just like everyone else. That money was never going to get used by Europe to give to Europe because of lawsuits in Hong Kong against Euroclear, but it also was not going to get refunded to Moscow. It is printed pieces of paper created on a whim by a central bank. Besides which, with sanctions removed, that $100B is replaced by oil export in probably < 1 year.
The only true obstacle is the EU may not be able to come up with the $100B they have to add. They are lucky the President did not demand that he manage that $100B along with the Russian $100B to be escrowed at JP Morgan Chase. He can threaten them . . . you come up with your $100B or I return Russia’s $100B to them.
Trump is flat out amazing. Realize Graham and he did that golf fundraising event just a few days ago, and I’ll bet Graham was told NOTHING.
“Azov does not agree.”
The regiment’s size was estimated to be around 2,500 combatants in 2017, and around 900 in 2022.

Well, when those 500 estimated troops get run over by Russia they can say they were soldiers...dead ones.

Get over it and get it done.
I wish a different reality existed, but it didn't and it never would turn to Ukrine's advantage if they were lrft to fight it on their own.
At this point he now finds himself between a rock & a hard place, because he bought into the promises he was being made to him. Those promisses were never sincere, because the EU & US were broke financialy, and they also were more afraid of Russia aiming their efforts aggainst all of Europe, and the Europeans were fighting for thie own nations or the UE. Their concern for Ukraine just wasn't there. While there was more support in the US, it was at best, a small majority of the citizens who were solidly supporting the effort to save Ukraine, as they were witnessing the invasion of our nation addidted by none other than Joe Biden's afministration along with the RINO Republican's (aka The Uni-party of traitors) in our Congress. The longer the conflict continued, was not a positive for Ukraine, because it only ensured that support for them would only coninue to erode, not strengthen.
